Question for the flower gardeners.

We moved into our current house last June I had no idea how many spring flowers the previous tenants had planted.

The white peony bush and purple lilies were just gorgeous this May. I made some fantastic arrangements for the house....because I LOVE having fresh flowers inside.

Do most people who grow flowers cut and arrange them to enjoy inside? Or are they left outside to pretty up the yard/landscaping??

I was just wondering because for the most part I plant annuals and really haven't had the opportunity to have flowers appropriate for cutting and arranging.

I have a roses and Oriental lilies (Casa Blanca and Stargazer) that I grow specifically so that I can cut some for floral arrangements.

I will occasionally cut some daffodils and bring in and I cut from our prolific hydrangea bushs as well. All our other flowers are too enjoy outside.

I grow flowers outside in the front of our house, both in the ground and annuals in pots to pretty up the entrance. The backyard is for the digging doggy duo and not pretty at all. I occasionally bring in cut flowers, but when I do the dogs act like I've put out salad for them

How nice for you that the previous owners supplied you with wonderful cutting flowers! I like to think that if we ever move the next owners will enjoy the results of all my work over the years.

I am guessing you meant lilacs not lillies? I judiously cut and bring in, but not at the expense of the front yard. I try and plant a cutting garden. Or, cut bushes like lilacs and forsythia.

We have peonies and lilacs in our yard too, and I always bring some in every spring to have bouquets in the house that way I get to enjoy them outside as well as inside. I have some rose bushes too and cut some off and bring indoors as well. And in the later summer/fall I will cut some of the garden flowers (bachelor buttons, zenias, etc.) to bring in too. I love having cut flowers in the house.
