Question for SW experts

I have never flown SW before and don't know how their pricing changes so I need some advice.

We usually fly out of Boston and prices have been higher than I want, so yesterday I decided to try flying out of Providence. Prices were great on SW, but I wanted to talk to my husband first because we never have been to that airport. He gave the OK, and today I went to book the tickets. They are up $26 per person from yesterday, and I need five tickets so that is $130. I am kicking myself for not booking it yesterday, but now I am wondering how volatile these prices are. If I wait until tomorrow will they come down, or are they now up for awhile? The price is still much better than Boston, but I will be kicking myself again if they drop back down tomorrow.

I did check by putting in just one person and the price came up the same so its not the fact that I have 5 people to buy for that is sending it up. Yesterday there was a web only price for all the flights on our date. Today it is only on the last flight of the day and all the rest went up. Does web only pricing come back after it goes away?

No one can answer the question of whether or not prices will go up or down. If they do go down, you can always rebook and get a credit (which will only be of use if you plan on flying WN again within a year of the original booking date).

Depending on where you're driving from, you might want to also look at Machester NH (MHT). It's an hour north of Boston.

Agree with the others - impossible to predict. I travel a lot for work and in the past have found SW to hold pretty steady with their prices, rather than fluctuating daily or even weekly. However, just last week I booked a flight on SW and even though I selected the cheapest fare, when I got to the check out, the price was up $100. It then wouldn't allow me to continue the check out so I had to call and come to find out, the fare had sold out entirely. So I was stuck paying $100 more even though that's not what the web site showed :rolleyes1

I fly out of both Providence and Boston all the time. Check Jet Blue out of Providence as well. I found now that JB is flying out of PVD they fares are great! I am flying down for 70 and back for 100 on JB, it was about $10 cheaper than SW. THe flight prices do change a bit I have noticed, but if they start REALLY high I have noticed they don't really go down just up.

I seldom fly SW out of Logan, but always use TF Green in Providence. It has always been cheaper to fly out of Providence. Logan is about 45 mins away from us, Green is just an hour. So, it's quicker to get to Logan...but, not only are the fares usually cheaper out of Green but parking is a lot more reasonable as well.

I am flying JB out of Green in Sept....got a great deal. BUT....as of the moment, they aren't putting out many flights daily..think its just the one as of right now. I usually fly JB out of Logan.

I usually find that SW fares don't go down as often as they go up. I would book now. You can always cancel if the fares go down. You can cancel, get a credit and then rebook at the new fares. They don't charge you a cancellation fee, so that's a good way to do it.

Southwest will credit you back in future travel if fares DO drop though after you book.
