Question for Southwest experts

I was waiting for the new fares to be posted, and was online by 11:20 ET yesterday to book Providence - Orlando for 6/23 - 6/30. I was able to get $75 one way on the flight down if we booked the 4:50 PM flight (much later than we would normally like to go), but was forced to pay $190 on the flight back. I am sure I was online within 10 minutes of the proces being loaded because I had been checking all morning. All cheaper flights and times were listed as unavailable.

I booked one way flights as has been advised here, and subscribe to Ding. In the event I find a price reduction between now and June, would someone please post exactly how I go about getting the lower fare? Is it better to call, or to do it online? And can I do it only on the flight I have booked now, or can I move my flight to a different one the same day that might have a lower price?

Thanks for any help you can give this Southwest newbie.

Denise :)

Leave the $75 alone for now. If you can be flexible on the day you come home and you can get a better fare, cancel the return flight and then apply your ticketless travel funds to the new flight. You will have to keep the remaining TT funds in holding and you have 1 year to use them from the date of the original reservation. The flights are ridiculously high right now and they have to come down sooner or later (we hope!):worship:

I have seen the lowest price seats get booked almost before my eyes when new dates are released or there is a sale, so it's always safest to select the return fare you want (any date and time) and proceed with making the new reservation up until the point of paying for it. Then open a new browser window and cancel your current return flight. You will receive a # for the credit. Go back to the new booking and put this # into the section that indicates you are paying with ticketless travel and finish the process.

It's safest to grab the seats you need at the date/time/price you want and THEN cancel the current reservation. If you cancel first, there's a risk that the seats you want will be taken. Good luck! I agree that it's easiest to have separate reservations down and back. It makes it easier to take advantage of a sale or a Ding if only one of the flights is available.

1st if it's a sale you don't need to cancel anything. Just go to the Travel Center and make the changes . You can also call for this as well I always yse on-line.

If it's a Ding then yes you have to cancel and book the Ding with the TTV.

You have to book the Ding on-line ONLY but you can cancel the original flight either on-line (like explained abobe with opening the 2 windows)or by Phone ,then just enter the TT number they give you over the phone.

Lastly you can move and do whatever you need with SW with no penalties right up to checking in. You don't even have to show up (as long as you didn't check-in ) and still get your full TTV.

Keep checking as many book flight right when they open the change them later reopening the the cheaper flights . They do their fares just as they do their boarding (so many at the lowest and so many at the next fare and so forth.)

Also if you don't change anything (flight/time/day ) you can get that money refunded back to your CC on most cases through another number with SW
