Question for republicans

I think that allegations of election fraud are the biggest danger to our democracy. We cannot allow Americans to lose faith in the elections.
Absolutely right. It's not actual election fraud (which is actually quite rare), but the allegations of election fraud, such as made by McCain in the last debate, that are the biggest danger to our democracy.

I agree. This is exactly why the ACORN's of the US should be disbanned and, in the instance of ACORN, a RICO case be pursued. They're clearly a criminal enterprise, all the way thorugh.

If ACORN isn't disbanded, they need oversight from somewhere else. Right now, the fox is guarding the hen house.

If Obama wins, I will be almost 99% certain that voter fraud helped to get him there. The other concern is the serious allegations of foreign money and illegal campaign contributions. Obama, if he gets to the White House, will get there on a wave of cash; an election that will have been bought and paid for with unprecedented sums of money. Where it came from is a big concern, along with the "vote early and vote often" mantra of Chicago.

Buying office has become the American Way. I think that candidates should spend money that they or their parties raise and NO federal funds should be spent.
Every time I hear some one say, "Vote early", and "often" always pops into my head.:)

Recalibrating the discussion.... If McCain concedes, will you respect your own candidate enough to accept his perspective, and follow his lead, working together with the new administration for the good of the country?

If Obama wins the election, he will be my president, it has absolutely nothing to do with respecting my own candidate enough, it has to do with respecting my country.

As for accepting his perspective and following his lead, I will do so as often as I agree with him, when I disagree I will follow my beliefs and opinions and voice my disent.

If democrats don't cheat in elections why do they continue to block every effort to require proper voter identification (i.e PHOTO ID)?

If Obama were to win (personal feelings about him aside) how do you think you will review the results? What I mean is, you may hate him, think he will destroy the world, not react correctly in a crisis, etc but do you feel like the results will be fair? With all the Acorn discussions and the obviously hate this election has generated on both sides, I am curious if republicans are already thinking that the results are going to favor Obama because the whole thing was rigged to begin with?

I should point out that I am bringing this up because a republican friend and I were talking about this tonight. She said there are "credible sources" out there that are already taking steps to fight the results. She claims to have read many articles about this. I haven't seen word one about it myself.

Not sure, but on this board at least the license to whine is valid at least 8 years.

B/c supposedly poor people can't afford the $15 or whatever it is to buy a state-issued ID card. And some people who are opposed to showing an ID liken this [incorrectly in my opinion] to a poll tax. So, we have hobos and tramps voting in exchange for free beer. Yipee!

My question is - do they not need to show ID to collect benefits like food stamps and welfare? I would assume that you would have to prove your identity in some fashion (and I am not talking about free meals at the soup kitchen but gov't issued benefits), but I honestly do not know. :confused3

Yep, this is one the arguments that is always raised. OK - we will make the IDs FREE (hey it's just another Gov handout so the people should be used to that!)

Or how about by IRIS scan, or fingerprint or any other way to make sure that no one votes twice or someone that shouldn't vote gets to cast a vote. Why is protecting the right to vote such an issue with the left?

I guess it depends what you mean. Obviously if McCain concedes, I will accept that Obama has won the election and will be the president. However, I certainly won't have a metamorphosis and become an Obamabot. I vehemently oppose most of the things he wants for our country, so it would certainly not be my desire to "work together with the new administration" because I don't believe that his plans are "for the good of the country". Therefore, I will do whatever I can legally to stop his actions. And I will count the days until the next election.

:thumbsup2

Exactly right. Quoted for truth.

If Obama wins, I will need to dust off the mute button on my remote. :snooty:

eta...I TOTALLY agree with BellvilleDad. :thumbsup2

The democrats always cheat in elections. Jay Severin (former political consultant now radio talk show host) has said that about 5% of all votes cast in Presidential Elections are fraudulent democratic votes. He said it is a dirty little secret that no one wants to talk about. So this election will be no different.

Link please.

Elvis contributed, so did Dahsudhu Hdusahfd of Df, and Uadhshgu Hduadh. Problem is Elvis is dead and the other 2 don't exist.

I can only speak to my donations. I have donated several times...in small increments. And my money has been put to good use. :teeth:

I am not in favor of cheating on either side but if the democrats are always cheating in elections, they need to retake "Cheating 101" because they didn't do so well in 2000 and 2004.

Didnt do well at all in 2000.

How again did the Democrats cheat in 2000 and 2004?

I honestly don't know.

I don't hate Obama. I just have zero interest in Socialism and all it entails. The 20th Century is all the evidence I need that Socialism does not work. But, I accept that this lesson is so valuable that perhaps it needs to learned all over again.

I am watching the ACORN style irregularities with great interest. I am also very interested in the funding of the Obama campaign.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."

Marcus Tullius Cicero

Very well said, and I will be right beside you! :thumbsup2

Well, good thing for ya then. Obama isn't a socialist.

Independent voting for McCain (first time I'll vote Repubilcan for President I might add). Like any election, if my preferred candidate loses I'll go on with my life. The positives of an Obama win for me would be...no more Bush (which will happen anyway), a black president (about time), a president who does truly seem thoughtful.

My biggest fear is the erosion of personal responsibility and the growth of government....and of course the addiction that seems to come with power. Hopefully, none of these fears will come to fruition.

Same with Obama, so you two should get along fine. :thumbsup2

Actually, you should learn a little more about your candidate. His whole life has been spent at the feet of those who wish to lead this country towards socialism from Frank Marshall Davis, to the pew of Rev. Wright, to the home of Bill Ayers.

Well ok then.......but if you two are wrong.....Oh, well I'm gonna......I mean Oh, this is gonna sting.......

I'm going to harangue you both on a Disney Message Board.

 ......or at least until they come to take me away to the Re-education Camp (for 1,000hrs per year).......

Good thing McCain/Palin is going to win (whew)

Wait a second.....you are both supposed to say the exact same thing....and in unison as OS......(interesting breach of established policy)
