Question for Red Sox fans

Well we've had about 2 months since the end of the season to get over losing the way we did. And since then they have fired Grady and traded for Curt. Two positives IMO. But now I have to say I'm torn about the possible pending development. I like Manny and would hate to see him go but to get Arod I think it would be worth it. But if they make that trade they more than likely will have to trade Nomar. I can't picture the Sox without him. Just curious what other Sox fans are feeling about getting Arod but losing Manny and Nomar. I didn't hear the interview but Nomar was on WEEI today saying he wants to finish his career with the Sox. I'm kinda hoping the trade doesn't happen and they lock him up for years to come.

Just don't trade anyone to the Yankees;) ;) ;)

I just KNEW Mermaid would have an opinion on this.

Big Dude--I think Theo and the Trio will do whatever they need to to keep from trading anyone to the Yankees. :teeth: ;)

A tough, tough decision. I really like Nomar & if he truly wants to stay in Boston, I hope he can....that being said, I would love, love, love to have A-Rod!!!

I wish they would keep both of them, Manny more than Nomar though....

I used to be obsessed with A-Rod.

Now, I think he is seriously over rated. Maybe because it was his deal with the Rangers, or maybe because I have seen him play so many times now.

If I were you guys, I'd pray that the Red Sox keep Nomar.

Red Sox fans don't dispair. Arod has already said he wouldn't veto a move to 3rd base ala Cal Ripken. To have 2 potential Gold Glovers on the left side, Arod's consistency at the plate, and Pedro and Curt throwing darts, look for your boys to have a great year..That's if they deal for Arod..IMHO Manny is a liability when he insists on playing the outfield and trading him out of there will better their defense, helping the pitching staff in the long run.

I hope you are right, AJB. I could do without Manny, but I would hate to lose Nomar. Though I do like A-Rod, I would prefer Nomar to A-Rod any day.

Well Mermaid if the news reports are true we're both going to be bummed. Looks like the trade is going down and that means Nomar is headed west. I was happy over the weekend when they said the deal wasn't going tobe happy and they were working on a deal for Nomar. I an't believe they're trading Manny and Nomar. Arod better be worth it.

I'm torn about it all, Nomar is such a part of Boston...but with that said, he took a chance last spring or whenever when he turned down an extension, perhaps looking to being offered more $$, and after his poor performance in the playoffs, this has come back to haunt him, and they seem to feel he has lost some of his desiredness.

I really would hate to see him go, but it just doesn't seem to be about the "team" or the real love of the game anymore, but all on a business level. Hope they can work something out and he stays, but just don't know what will happen....hopefully something good, but I just don't know....

Manny on the other hand, I can take or leave him. He is to me, not worth all the $$$ either. If they could trade him away, go for it, but I just think that another quality player is going to have to go with him to make a deal for him worthwhile to someone.

I am a huge Nomar fan, since seeing him with the Paw Sox when he was coming up. But his dismal performance is Sept (.105) and even more dismal performance in this years playoffs. I think he is probably ripe for trading. He has one year on his contract and seems he is looking for numbers that just aren't realistic. So if the Sox hope to get anything they must act this year. I personally think he will be out west maybe LA or Oakland. I wouldn't worry about Yankees they have a SS think his name is Jeter or something. I also think alot of this started with his agent trying to play hardball after his performance in the latter part of the season he highly underestimated the Sox.

As for Manny - good riddance, what a cry baby. He cannot be depended on to be a team player and has left everywhere he has been because of it. He is way overpaid. Need any more evidence than not being claimed off waivers earlier this year. So see ya!

I think A-Rod will happen, especially since Rangers have come to terms with Todd Walker. We need his bat in the line-up. Over rated - maybe a bit.

I would love to see A-Rod move to third, Nomar stay SS. Nomar cannot move to 3rd if you watch his throwing style just wouldn't function as a 3rd baseman.

Either way - gonna be interesting ain't it.

Well if it does happen I will miss Manny too. He has been a joy to watch play minus his few Manny moments. And the only other place he left was Cleveland because the Red Sox gave him a boat load of money.

Sweetie, Mia's been trying to get Normar back to the left coast for a long time. Who do you think is going to win that one?

My guess would be the wifey will win! :p

I would love to get A-Rod. I will miss Manny though. I know it sounds bad, but I get a kick out of cocky players like him (only if they're on my team, though!;) )

I am looking forward to seeing what happens. I'm just glad to see the Sox mgmt. moving forward trying to improve an already good team.

I much rather have A-Rod then Nomar !!!!!!
Manny I can do with out too!!!!!!!!

I love the pitching staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm ambivalent about Manny and Alex. Couldn't pick one over the other. Nomah I would miss, but that's mostly because of his history. I figured his heart wasn't in Boston anymore and we'd be seeing him go soon.

I'd miss Todd Walker too, he just got here. :(

Mia and Nomah are building a house in Texas, Houston I think. The Tejada signing sealed Nomar's fate here. If ARod is overrated then why is he MVP and with better stats then Nomah?
