Question for recent Magical Express users

They send 1 per person. If you need more, you need to call and request them.

WE jsut received our ME packet in the mail for our July trip and cruise. We received two luggage tags per person to use.

Each time we have used ME it has been different. I'm not sure what makes them send one or two? I'll have to request they send me two just in case our next trip is the time they will only send us one! Thanks guys.

You can pretty much count on getting one tag pp, unless you specifically request more. When the airlines started charging for checked bags, DME found that the vast majority of guests were checking just one bag. So, sending two tags per person was a huge waste...and they cut back to just one pp.
I have used DME about 8 times since they started going with just one tag, and dd just returned from WDW a week ago. We have never received two tags pp since they started going with just one tag pp.

It seems when it first began, that we got 2 tags per person. However, for the last couple of years, it has only been 1 tag each. We arrange ME through DVC Member Services and have always been told that we could request an additional set whenever we received the first set--even if I request two sets to begin with.
On occasion, we have requested an additional set for a couple of trips.

Unless you requested extra, you should only get 1 tag per person. Are you sure you received 2 tags per person? Each tag is about a foot long with the same info on each end and sometimes people think they should be torn in half.

We went last month. We each received a tag, but if you look closely, they can be divided into TWO tags.

They should not be divided in to 2 tags. Just because something is able to be torn in half doesn't mean that it should be.

No, they can't. :confused3 Well, yes, it's a possibility you can rip them in half, but they aren't supposed to be.

Received one but received another after requesting one. Last trip I knew in advance to request an additional tag.

I beg your pardon, the tags we received had directions printed on the back of them about dividing the tag into two tags. Look on the back of the tags.

The tags do come attached to one another, and should be separated from each other longways. That is not the same as dividing one tag in half.

Some people think that each individual tag should be cut crossways into 2 tags - that is what it sounded like you were recommending.

No matter the how you want to "cut" it, (LOL) each single tag can safely be divided into tags for TWO suitcases. The OP should not have to order additional tags. Sorry if you or anyone else misunderstood my original post.

By the way, I knew to look for directions for separating the tags from another post on a different board.

Thanks everyone. We always make our ME reservations through DVC. I think I'll just ask for a second set just to be safe. I am however curious about making two tags out of the one. I've never needed more than 1 set before so I never really read the back of the tags to pay that close of attention to it. Bringing extended family with is creating new adventures for us!!

Okay..here's the issue with splitting the tags in two, other than lengthwise. If you tear them apart, in the middle, halfway up, you are not using them correctly. The instructions say to affix the tags so that they move freely on the baggage handle. If you have torn the tag in half, mid-way up, it will not move freely. It is then in danger of being torn off.
Some have come here to tell us that they have split them like this...and if that's what you prefer to do, then fine. Just be aware that this is not how the tags were designed to be used.
Much better to just call and ask for more.

If everyone is listed on a reservation, then they will get their own tag. Pack a large enough bag so that you don't have to use two..but, be careful not to go overweight!!
It's so simple to get more tags...just not worth the worry about splitting the ones you get to begin with.

Here's my situation Goofy....can you help me think this one through? Three different families flying into MCO. We are coming from Minnesota, my sister and family AND my mom and husband coming from Wisconsin. My family and sister/family will be landing around 5:00. My mom however won't be landing until much later in the evening (after 10:00 for sure). My sister was thinking to just take my mom and husband's luggage (2 bags) with her since she will be flying southwest and can check 2 bags per person for free (she will take an extra one and her husband will take an extra one). This gets my mom's luggage there so she doesn't have to pick them up at MCO and saves her money to not have to check her luggage with her airline of choice.

So, with this scenario, I don't want my mom and husband to tag the bags with their ME tags because the bags would be waiting to be delivered to a room that they haven't even checked in to yet. RIGHT? If my sister takes them with her I need to get more ME tags in her name so they would all be delivered to her room after she checks in?

I hope this makes sense!

I guess you are referring to me, but I never told anyone at anytime to "tear them apart in the middle." What I said was. "We went last month. We each received a tag, but if you look closely, they can be divided into TWO tags."

Disney has printed directions for separating the tags into two on the back of the tags. They separate lengthwise. I thought to help the OP, not to cause some sort of problem!
