Question for New members

My apologies if I am posting to the incorrect board..

We took good friends with us this past February down to BWV and they simply loved it and are in the process of buying BWV. They would like to go end of September in a one bedroom (Standard view) at BW.

I mentioned to them that they may want to try and see if their guide could help them out with a reservation since they are now into the 6 month or less window. They spoke with the guide this morning and she said she could not help them... is this a new thing??

I know that I have read of posters getting some from the guides on purchase... trying to find out if no longer an option or guide doesn't want to help them...

Are they buying directly from Disney? Their guide might be able to help them find something, but probably not a standard view at BWV. Those are limited, it's a sold out resort and probably already booked up.

DVC Guides in the past have been able to work some Disney **Magic** for new buyers with reservations at resorts they are actively selling. They usually have not been able to assist at the sold-out resorts. The reason for this is that they can sometimes get access to Developer inventory (villas still owned by DVD) by regaining that from cash reservations. So, had your friends been wanting a stay at BLT, AKV or Aulani they possibly could have helped but otherwise they are just competing with other members for reservations at the sold-out resorts like OKW, BWV, AKV, VWL and SSR.

I know most guides are happy to assist if they can, but they don't really have any special access to villas at BWV at this time. It never hurts to ask and I'm sure some may report success with their guides but I would not place any blame on a guide who can't secure a reservation at a sold out resort - especially within 5 months of arrival.
