Does anyone know how Florida schools are funded? Specifically the Orlando/Windermere area.

Thanks for any insight you can give me! :)

We pay property taxes here like everyone else does!!!
Orlando schools-Orange County schools get their funding mostly from school taxes that are part of our property taxes. There is also funding from the Florida Lottery.

Windermere is also part of Orange county, however there are several private schools here. ie: Windemere Prep. These are tuition based schools where the parents pay for their children to go there.

Here's some of the answer:

The state legislature votes each year how much to allocate to the districts based on what the federal govt has given the state as a budget.

And the ever popular Florida lottery contributes SOME funds. Don't believe the hype about the millions and millions that have been contributed by them.

Whoa....their website for that school. Tuition for kindergarten is $8.600!!!! I thought the $2,500 we paid for catholic school was bad....guess I should show that to DH!!! ;)

Funding also depends on the school's overall FCAT grade.
