Do you get upset when you see kids in First Class on your flight?

Nope. My kids flew 1st class quite a few times. I can't imagine why you'd care, unless they're misbehaving.

I'm a frequent flyer for business, and always have been in coach. I'd never, in all my flights, been upgraded to first class. UNTIL...

You guessed it. Coming home from Disney. With DD3.

Sometimes you don't ask for it. Nobody appeared to be upset by it, but I confess that I was afraid someone would be. Luckily, she was as well-behaved as any adult passenger.

 Is there an airline with an "adults only" first class section? If not, it's nobody else's business but the parents if there are kids in first class. :confused3

Thanks. I'm asking because I have always wondered. I have an 8 year old and a 4 year old and we are flying to Hawaii first class. Sometimes I look around and wonder what the other first class passengers are thinking when we are up there with our kids.

Don't give it a second thought. You're paying for it. Who cares what anyone thinks? As with any flight - first class or coach - just try to have something on hand to keep the kids occupied.

No. I do get annoyed at parents who refuse to actually discipline their kids whether it's first class or coach. If you're little darlin' is kicking the bottom of my seat nonstop from JFK to Paris and I've politely asked you to check into it 3 times, "houston, we've got a problem" because the 4th time I turn around I'm going to be not so polite.

Travelers get annoyed not at kids but at parents who refuse to act as parents.

Honestly I wouldn't give it a second thought. There are no age restrictions on first class. If somebody has an issue I would just point out that your 4 year olds seat cost just as much money as the seat they are sitting in.......

My kids have flown first class several times. Don't worry about what the other passengers think. They are no different than the people who are flying in coach. The only difference is that they may be up there because they fly a ton. Very few people buy first class seats. Miles and free upgrades are the bulk of FC clyers.

My nephew has flown many times in FC, he's well behaved and well mannered. It's all about how the child is raised and the expectations that are set for the child. Here's a picture of him on their way to Disney with my partner:

Yes, I don't like it when kids are not disciplined by their parents either.

You brought up one good reason to fly first class with kids - no chance of them kicking the seat in front of them! :)

They are thinking "Dear God, please let this women be able to handle her children , I really don't want to fly 16 hours with screaming kids ".

Nope. As I have said in many threads, any bad experiences I've had on flights have never been from kids but from adults who are overserved/entitled/crabby/oversharers/whatever. Kids are fine as long as they parents know how to fly with them.

Nope, I don't care as long as the kids are well behaved. I've flown first class with kids in the cabin and I don't remember ever having a problem with them. I actually flew to NYC first class recently and sat next to a little girl who was traveling by herself - she was beautifully behaved! She told me she was only five, but she was used to flying on her own - she knew how to work her seat and the entertainment system, was polite when she asked for drinks, she was just really sweet. She was much better behaved than the businessman in front of me who managed to get drunk on the two hour flight and was totally obnoxious.

OP, we're flying to Hawaii this summer and we're splurging on first class too! That's what we've done the other two times we've been and it's sooooo worth it for the length of the flight!!!

Yep, that's what they are thinking. But passengers feel that way in coach too! :)

Honestly, you may see an eyeroll or hear a sigh if it is a peak business traveler day (Monday esp.) but on a weekend, not so much. But if your kids are well behaved it will be no issue after 15 minutes. It looks like you have a family of 4 so the biggest piece of advice I can give is this -- have one parent in the row with each kid. Typically, issues arise when kids are on one side and parents on the other. That aisle becomes a barrier and some parents become oblivious. Not saying its you, but just my observations over the years.

And make sure bring plenty of activities for them to do on such a long flight! :) Safe and happy travels!!

I've flown first class several times both with and without my daughter. The only obnoxious people I've even encountered have been adults and I'm pretty sure that had something to do with all the "free" booze, the kids won't be partaking of that I'm assuming. ;)

I fly mostly biz/first for work on a weekly basis. To reiterate what others have said, as long as your kid is well behaved and quiet, then I don't care.

That being said, no I don't want to talk to your kid (or anyone else for that matter,) no I don't want to play peek a boo, no I don't want to hear your DVD player playing Blue's Clues (bring headphones) nor do I want to swap my nice aisle seat for your special snowflake.

If you are paying for biz/first seats then be strategic and book seats together and near the restroom.

The one and only time I flew first class with a child (if she could be called that at 14 y.o.), she drank a mimosa thinking it was OJ, babbled non-stop for 30 minutes, and promptly fell asleep.

At one time, United Airlines didn't book children in the "hump" of the double-decker planes. These were business class. I don't think they discriminate that way anymore.

I'd love to hear your plans! I think we are going to fly to LAX or SFO and stay for 2 nights then go onto Hawaii. What about you? Straight through to Hawaii? What island(s)?

I am going to use 600 miles to buy the first class tickets.

Thanks for sharing!
