Hi everyone!!! I am taking my first solo trip in Jan. of 2011 and I need help figuring out transportation. Here's the plan:
Disney world for 8 days, Universal/IOA for 4 days. I will be 18 at the time of my trip. Here's my questions:
1.) Should I rent a car?
2.) What transportation is avaliable through an off-site hotel and disney?
3.) how do I get to universal from disney?
I'm still trying to decide on a hotel and i'm thinking that when I go to universal i'll be staying off-site. It's just too much money to stay on-site. I was thinking of staying at the nickelodeon hotel but I wasn't sure the whole transportation thing would work out. I do not want to rent a car unless I absolutely have to. It would be an extra $1500 basically to rent a car for the whole time, and I would prefer to use DME and Disney transportation. So! Can anyone help? Thanks!!!!!!

Also---I was just thinking and the other option is just to stay on Disney property the whole time and then get transportation for 2-3 days to go to IOA and US

I would stay on Disney property the whole time and use Disney transportation. To get to Universal, I have read many times that Mears transportation is an option. I think you reserve it in advance at your resort. You would have to check on that one.

I know the people on this board can help more than me but I think you may find a problem renting a car. A long, long, long...OK enough...time ago, when I was 22, my employer needed to rent a car for me for a business trip and they had a really hard time finding one for me because of my age. Maybe things have changed though. Like I said, it was a long, long, long...time ago. I have no troubles anymore :lmao:.

I think that is still case - under 25 - hard time and very, very expensive. Perhaps the $1,500 quote is the reason why it's so high.

I would not rent a car. Car service for those four days or Mears would be a lot cheaper (and use ME of course).

Have fun planning - I think it's the best part :)

Thanks for the feedback!!! Hopefully more people will come and give some reccomondations! The only place I found where I can rent a car is called e-z rental.......

I think the PPs idea to stay on-sight and use Disney transport for most and then use either Mears or a towncar service to get to Universal will be the easiest and most economical thing to do.
