Question for DVC owners that rent their points

Has anyone else run into issues trying to book for someone when you do have their complete info? I usually book the res with my address, and then change it to the renter's address once I receive payment. When I tried to do that yesterday, MS would not book the res with my address if it was in someone else's name. They also wouldn't let me book it with my name and address after I had told them that it was for someone else. I've never had that problem before and I was wondering if it was new policy or just the particular CM that I spoke with yesterday.

We rented points from friend of ours just this past July, so our reservation was made at the 7th month prior to that. However our name was the reservation with his address. I have never rented to anyone before (very new DVC owner) so I don't know what the rules are, but our friend was able to do what you are talking about with out a problem.

Couldn't you just book it under your name and change it later?

I think it depends on MS agent. The simplest way is to list everyone plus yourself on the res and then just drop yourself later and change the address at that time.

Nope, she wouldn't let me since I had already told her that the res was for someone else.

I've used my name with their address and never had a problem.

That's ridiculous. I would have asked for a manager. They are your points, there's no reason she could not have put it in your name. Or whose to say this other person does not live with you and has the same address? So what did you do?

OP, I actually had a similar problem awhile back.
(I booked a reservation under my name and was going to change it to someone else later on after I get all the info)
Posted the same question and not a lot of people heard about this problem. Seems to be CM related.

So I followed this following advice:

Multiple times I have originally opened reservations for others in their name with my address. I have told MS that I was giving it as a gift/stay and wanted the reservation to come to my house so that I could then present it to the people staying.
I have also made reservation in my name, included the people who would be staying with me. Got the reservation at home, then called and took my name off.
I have never rented points to someone else, only given them away as gifts/presents.

Each time I rent out my points, I only give them the renters names and address, however the actual confirmation letter comes to myself and I then pass it on.

This is true, I have 3 total reservations for Thanksgiving week on my points...1 for my family, 1 for friends, and 1 for sis-n-law....had to give their names and addresses but actual confirmation letters were still mailed to my home...

Depends on who picks up in MS. Sometimes I've been told it's OK to change the address later, other times I need all their info right away (address and phone number). The confirmation gets sent to you but the ME tags get sent to them.

I make the reservation in the renters name. The confirmation comes to me and I forward it to the renter. I have never had a problem with this.

I usually do a three way call with MS so I have my friend on the phone with all of the information needed including whether or not they want the magical express and things like that.

I just rented for someone else not a problems.. Rented in their name and address.. I think it was the person you dealt with.
