Hi,
I'm trying to become part of the DVC family BUT there aren't too many ways to get 100 points right now...seems like most people are selling larger contracts.

BUT recently I saw points offered at HH....and the broker said that since I wouldn't be taking advantage of the 11 month booking (I tend to only plan a couple months out) that it wouldn't matter WHERE my home resort was...that when you use the 7 month window, that ALL POINTS are created equal.

My question then, is, in your experience, do you feel this is true? Meaning that when you call Disney Ressies at 7 months that it doens't matter where your home points are...that requesting space say at BWV that HH points are just as good as BC points?

THanks for responding...I'm getting so excited to buy!!!

Yes, that's true. The eleven month window matters but at 7 months all resorts are equal.

The information you were given is correct...7 months prior to the check-in date, all points are equal.

The only concern I would have is regarding your ability to get the room that you want on only 2 months' notice. Some times of the year can be difficult to book at DVC resorts on so little notice. And don't think that the typical "slow" times at WDW also apply to DVC members. We know all the tricks for avoiding crowds, and have no problem filling the resorts to capacity well in advance of periods like the first 3 weeks of December and October / November. ;)

Any DVC villas unreserved using points are turned over to CRO for cash reservations 60 days ahead, so if you will usually be trying to reserve during that time frame you need to realize that you are competing with cash bookings for the few villas remaining at the DVC resorts.

DVC may not be cost effective if you are only able to make reservations within 2 months before travel.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for pointing this out to me! I really appreciate the head's up.
I guess I will have to start planning ahead! :earsboy:
I'm from Colorado and tend to go to Disney when the airfare is good and when the weather is warm and when the points needed are less...Of course, I now see that you all try to make the best use of points and avoid crowds too!

This complicates things doesnt' it!
So, how about this question...I take advantage of the 11 months window to make a ressie when I THINK it will be a good time for me to go. When can I cancel this ressie without losing my points?

Sorry if you 've already explained this a kazillion times...I really do try to read and remember all the info gleaned from this board.

So I need to make sure that I at least call about an opening at 3 months...so as not to have units rented out for cash by Dis at the 2 month mark. If I only booked studios...do you all think I might have a problem with that, at OKW, with a 3 month out window during value or choice point season????

And one more question. If I was looking to rent out half of my points..would possible 'renters' find the 11 month window that I could use for my home resort helpful?

THanks! :hourglass

We tried to get BCV about three weeks ago for early June and it was booked. All the studios and one bedrooms were gone. If you want to go when it is warm and when points are lower, you will be locked into a few times.

If you are not planning to go at the height of Christmas, Easter and Spring Break, you should have no problem getting a ressie with a 7 month window.

Also, if you are thinking of cruising - no matter what you home resort is, you can book at the 11 month window!

HH (never been there) sounds wonderful. IF the price is great, take it! :goodvibes
