Is there a way we can just drop off my elderly grandmother close to the DL entrance without worrying about parking there? We are going on Sat, and my grandmother is 82,and didn't bring her handicap license hanger, But, i know if we have to park in the mickey garage like we did yesterday, she won't be able to do that walk to the tram..
IS there a way we can drop her off somehow closer to the entrance? And then go park?

There is a 15 minute parking lot on Harbor near where the shuttles drop off. You could park and walk her into the esplanade and find a bench for her to sit on while you park in the lots.

If you had a wheel chair, you could still park in the Mickey Parking Garage. There is an elevator. All she would have to do is get up for a second to get on the tram.
I am sure you have already thought about it.
Make sure she dresses warm It has been really really cold at night. I discovered a liitle trick to keep myself warm. I put on some socks, then got 2 of those heat bandages , you know the kind that warm up after you take them out of the package, put one on the bottom of each foot. and then put on another pair of socks. Toasty toasty!!
Anyways, I can now use this as amunition to get my granny to go to Disneyland with me!! ;)
I hope you all have a wonderful time!

Another option might be to go into the Downtown Disney parking (first hour or 2 is free, so no charge for a drop off). Go all the way to the front and drop her off. It will be next to ESPN Zone. Then go back, park the car at Mickey & Friends. Grandma and whoever is with her can ride the monorail into the park. Whoever takes the car can take the tram to the park then grab a wheelchair on their way in and meet you at Tomorrowland.

I think the walk from the passenger drop off previously mentioned may be just as far as a walk from the car to the tram at Mickey & Friends. Even from that drop off, you still have quite a walk to the front entrance.

Ok, now if she takes the monorail to tomorrowland, can she buy a ticket there? We have passes, but she doesnt'.

I like the idea of dropping her off at DTD -- and then from what i remember, our tram dropped us off at DTD from the mickey garage..so we could meet up with her -- I mean, she can walk some ok-- so she could probably meet up with us from where the trams drop us off (i think).. What is the shops that the tram drops us off near DTD from the mickey garage?

I would recommend to drop her off at the 15 minute drop off area on Harbor, there is a bench where she can sit down and then you go park at the parking lot next to the 15 minute drop off. Then you can take to the tram to the entrance closest to the 15 minute drop off area. It won't be alot of walking for either of you. The downtown disney parking and the Mickey parking garage is farther away then the parking area on Harbor. I am not sure what the parking lot is called maybe someone could help me with the name. For some reason I am thinking the Timon parking area.

It is the Timon lot, also referred to as Lion King. But you can't alwasy count on that lot being open.

Unfortunately there is no longer a ticket booth near the monorail station and you will need a ticket to board. So you'll need to get a pass at the ticket booths.

I'd say the walk from DTD parking to the ticket booths is longer than the walk from the passenger drop off on Harbor. Looks like that may be the better option. Unless you can get a ticket ahead of time so she can take the monorail in.

Is she in a wheelchair or no? I didn't see whether or not she was.

If she as....as someone else mentioned, you can park in the Mickey and Friends parking structure. There is an elevator on each level that takes you to the tram loading area. Also, they have a ramp and whatnot to bring a wheelchair onto the tram. So she wouldn't have to get up at all. The CMs will assist in getting her and the wheelchair safely on and off the tram.

If she does not have a wheelchair...I would probably recommend the drop off area on Harbor, as previously mentioned. Then she could just wait on a bench for you. She'd only have to walk from there to the ticketbooth and then into the park. If you don't have a wheelchair, do you plan on renting on?

I love satelite photos. So this might help you see the distance between places.
Red = drop off area
Big grey section at the bottom is the Lion King parking lot
Blue = tram drop off from lion king lot
Yellow = ticket booths

Wow! thanks so much..
So, if we drop her at the 15 min parking lot -- what if the timon/lion king lot isn't open and they put us in the Mickey Garage -- if i remember, they shuttled us to the DTD area from the Mickey garage -- which wouldn't be anywhere near the 15 min. lot would it??

Where is the Mickey lot in that ariel shot?

if its not opened, they will have you drive up to M&F parking structure. Its the really really big white building you see North west corner of the satalite picture. Then you can hop on the tram and ride into Disneyland. I do remember M&F also having a dropoff area too. may considered that too since its closer (hop on the tram)

On Busy days however, they may have you drive to Simba which is VERY VERY long walk to Disneyland.

Blue = mickey and friends lot
Red = tram dropoff at downtown disney
Yellow = ticket booths (the yellow oval on the right is the ticket booth that was circled in the last photo.)

If you park at mickey and friends and you have her wait by the 15 minute parking, you will have to walk through the bag check to get into the main area. And then out of the main area to get to the 15 minute parking. So then you'd have to walk back through the bag check again to get back to the ticket booth area.
