Question for check-in without documents

I booked my in-laws using a service that I later found out doesn't include getting the documents ahead of time.

We will be driving to the port and my question is- what is the procedure for luggage drop off? We have luggage tags, but they won't. Has anyone else done this?

Thanks for your help.

That is so bizarre. Why won't they have their documents sent prior to arrival? They can have DCL send them right to your inlaws. All that they have to do is ask that their address be used as the 'GTB."

Personally, I would pursue this. There's absolutely no reason for them to be doing this. DCL will mail documents anywhere they're instructed to.

It was cruise.com and by the time they mentioned it to me, it is a little late to do anything about it.

I have read where others did not receive documents before getting to the terminal so it is not that bizarre.

I was hoping one of those could give us a hint as to the luggage procedure.

Are you using DCL transfers or dropping off via towncar or rental. I know we got our luggage tags at the Hyatt for our transfers since we booked two weeks out last May and were picking our docs up at the terminal.

My GUESS is that the baggage handlers at the terminal have some spare luggage tags for those folks picking their docs up at the terminal. Besides, there's always someome who forgets the tags so they would have to deal with that also.

Have a great time.

We never get our docs before hand and it works out fine. We still drop off our luggage at the curb, and fill out the luggage tags right then and there. If I remember correctly, we show our ID to at the security check in point, and then go upstairs and gather all of our docs from the middle of the terminal. The whole process generally takes fifteen minutes.

I have heard of people booking a cruise last minute, so they had to pick up docs at the terminal. It should be no big deal, if you have a reservation number, they have plenty of documents at the terminals, and a little booth to fill them out. And the Porters who take the bags have the passenger list, with everyone's staterooms on it, so they will be able to tag your bags right at the terminal.

While I do understand that there are occassional circumstances where this happens, I find it unusual if this is how a company always handles the documents. That's what was implied, but it could be there's a problem in this case.

It's more of an inconvenience than anything else.

We had to check in without luggage tags/documents. We were a bit worried..but had no problems.

We drove up to luggage drop off, the porter met us...he was even prepared if we didn't know our cabin number. We did, however know our cabin number. He marked all the luggage correctly and it made it to our room in record time.

As far as no documents..it couldn't be easier. Right at the top of the escaltor is a desk where you pick up/fill out your documents. The castmembers are very helpful..they hi-lite what you need to complete..then you go get in line to check in. There were three of us traveling and the whole process took a matter of minutes. We were prepared though..I had all information ready that was needed to fill out docs in the port. Hubby had dropped daughter and I, and by the time he parked the car..we were ready to get in line.
