Question for bababear 50 or others who completed t-shirts

Mel or anyone who have completed t-shirts - I have a question since you have made some shirts. Do you happen to have a picture of this one Mel?

The reason I am asking is because I really like it with a clear background and not a big amount of white however, the only way to do that is to cut out all the images once on the transfer paper. I could pretty easily cut out the Mickey's but not the letter. Do you have any secrets to share?

I appreciate any advice as this is the 1st time I am doing transfers on shirts.

I'm sorry
I'm not sure how to make it a transparent background Hon.
I made mine on basic white t-shirts so it didn't matter.
Amy Mickey is in my opinion the best and most knowledgeable about this kind of stuff. Hopefully she will see this and maybe she has a suggestion.
I have no PM abilities to ask her privately.

Thanks Mel! I am thinking pretty much the same as you would have to do on a white tshirt to element that white background. Of course could cut out but would be pretty hard to do on the lettering

Mel,

Sorry I did not see this before you posted the designs in so many formats. The format will NOT change the way the design prints to the transfer. Just because the background is transparent, it does not change the way it prints to the transfer.

Let's see if I can clarify this better...

If you use a light transfer, the sheet itself is clear. What that means is that all white areas (or anything lacking color, including transparent) will be clear. This means that ALL of these areas will be the shirt color. Perfect, if you are putting it on a white shirt. But if you are putting it on a colored shirt, all these areas will be shirt color. So for example, this design with a light transfer on a yellow shirt will also make Mickey's face, hands, etc... yellow.

If you use a dark transfer, the sheet itself is white. Picture printing your design on a regular sheet of white paper. That means that ALL white areas (or anything lacking color, including transparent) WILL be white. If you are using a white tshirt, the color should blend pretty well. If you are using a colored shirt, you will want to trim off any areas you do not want white.

If you decide on a dark transfer for this design, you will either want to enclose the whole design in an easy to cut out shape (square, circle, etc) or you could cut it out 'loosely'. I will post a sample of some shirts that I made where I cut 'loosely' around the design.

I hope this helps to clarify... if you have any other questions, just ask, that is what we are here from. We were all new at one time or another.

Now all of your transfers are "dark" right? So would always have white background on them for a color shirt? Do you have "light" transfers?

Yes, my transfers are dark transfers, which means they have the white background. I do not carry light transfers because I personally never use them. I like the matte finish of a dark transfer (vs. the shiny finish of a light transfer) and I like the color on a dark transfer much better. The colors are much more vivid. Just my personal preference.

I only use dark transfers too. Personally I would put the DISign in an oval with a border that would make it easy to cut out. Shirts I made either were in ovals, circles, rounded rectangles....never tried to cut around a DISign.

Thank you Marion! Wonderful examples! I love the dark transfers as well but not so much white t-shirts so that oval or square with a border would be great!!
