Question for anyone familiar with the MIPS C compiler

Some people here at work need to use the MIPS C compiler, but MIPS as a company is no longer there. They're gone. What we need to know is did someone else buy the rights to the MIPS compiler (so we can negotiate license use issues), or did MIPS fall into the public domain.

Anyone know?

I did a quick search on the web and found that MIPS still appears to exist, although it is no longer based in the UK. You might want to check out www.mips.com (if you haven't already) or send an inquiry to software@mips.com or tool.sales@mips.com to see if the product you are looking for is available in any form.

Looks like a company called Embedded Performance, Inc has a MIPS C compiler. Here is a link with more info:
