Question for any diabetics out there?

I didnt have any symptoms. I went in for something totally unrelated and they found that I had high counts of sugar. I do carry my weight in my stomach and that is typical with a diabetic.

I know my mom was obnoxiously thirsty and going potty a lot. But she thought she was potty-ing alot, due to her thirst, and she was thristy due to her potty-ing.

My experience was with Gestational Diabetes, but in addition to what was mentioned above, my eyes were "foggy". Just enough out of focus to be a pain in the behind. And I would get terrible headaches.

DH was:

--Thirsty ALL of the time. He would drink over a gallon a day
--Sick often. He always seemed to have a low-grade cold and would pick up any bug going around.
--Tired often
--Headaches fairly often
--Cuts and sores took forever to heal

It's amazing how fast it all cleared up once they got his blood sugar under control!

Very thirsty, peeing all the time, weight loss no matter how much I ate and leg cramps big time.

Got the constant thirst, peeing all the time, generally not feeling well. Guess I need to go see the Doc and get checked out.

They discovered mine while DH and I were going thru infertility testing. I was in the beginning stages so I didn't really have any symptoms other than infertility. (4 years later we were blessed by God and discovered we were pregnant! :cloud9: )

No symptoms for me...my OBGYN was doing routine testing and found a slightly elevated glucose level (129) for my 12 hour fasting and sent me in for a glucose tolerance test...blew that one big time! He sent all my labs to an endricronologist who started treatment. I'm 4th generation diabetic in my family, so I knew it would probably happen, just didn't expect it when it did.

Please get checked asap. I had a friend in HS who went through a few weeks of feeling sick. Then he fell into a diabetic coma and died. He was overweight and had a family history of diabetes.

My dad has elevated blood sugar levels yet refuses to believe he is 'pre diabetic' because his Dr didn't use those exact words.

It can be a scary disease but there are so many tools to treat it and most diabetics live normal lives that there is no reason to put off testing.

Best of luck to you.
