Question? Has anyone been to the campfire program? What did you think? Any advice? Thinking of taking our 1 year old son.

We did the Chip-n-Dale campfire singalong once and we had a good time. When you first get there they have a big fire going and you can cook marshmallows, hotdogs, you can even make smores. Then Chip-n-Dale come out and sing some songs and then they go around signing autographs and posing for pictures. After that they show a Disney movie. Best of all, it's free. The only advice I can give is to make sure you call ahead to find out what time they're doing it. It's not the same time all the time, it varies with the season. Also, once you find out the time, allow yourself enough time to get there. You have to drive and park at the Fort Wilderness Campground parking lot, and then you have to take a bus to the singalong. I'd say allow a good 30 to 40 minutes of travel time from your hotel to the campfire.

We stayed at FW two years ago and went to the campfire. It was a lot of fun and my kids liked it. The package of s'mores is enough to feed a family of four and only costs around $5. Do call for times and movies as they change frequently.

What kind of weather would prevent you from doing this? Is there a better night?

I would think a good rain storm would cancel it, as the fire probably wouldn't stay lit. I believe it's a nightly show. The times change according to the season, because it's held in the dark. So, during the winter the time would be earlier, because it gets darker earlier. In the spring/summer the time would be later, since it gets dark later.:D

"In case of inclement weather a porch sing-a -log jam will be held at the Meadow swimmin' hole."

We stayed in the trailers twice many moons ago. We loved the campfire program then with our little ones. However it would be so time consuming to get there unless you're staying at FW or perhaps doing the early Hoopde Doo that I don't think it would be worth it.

Where do you call to find out about this? Do you call FW directly, or WDW Dine?

Call guest services or if you're staying at FW it should be in your resort newsletter.
