Part of me really wanted to stay at the WL lodge during my upcoming visit in August. However, my reservations are at CBR and I am going to stick with that. I would, however, like to vist WL during my upcoming trip. Since I will have a car, I was thinking about driving to WL on the morning I plan to visit MK. I thought I could park there, tour the property, and then take the boat to MK in the morning. My car would be in the WL parking lot all day. Is this OK????? It seems like it would be, but I don't want to waste the time to drive there in the morning if its not.

Does anyone know if this practice is frowned upon? I thought this would be a good way to experience the WL ambience because I could see the lobby, tours the grounds, and take the ride to MK. It would also help me decide if I wanted to spend the extra $ to stay there during a future visit.

During my last visit to WDW, we visited AK to tour the property. The guard just waved us through. However, it was a short visit. I feel a little funny about leaving my car at WL until late afternoon. Any thoughts!

Thanks in advance!

You might try that in reverse-take the bus to MK and the boat over to WL. We went from MK to WL for lunch once via the boat and it was a nice break. Incidentally, I was also interested in WL and we are staying there for our last night to try it.

No, you can't leave your car there all day - the pass is for a couple of hours, they have been known to tow, and parking there is already very limited so even WL hotel guests sometimes struggle to find a spot. It's best if you just visit for those couple of hours, or take the boat from MK and go visit for awhile.

We like to visit a resort and dine there. What about having lunch at WCC one day while you're at MK? It's a nice break from the park day, you can take the nice boat ride over, tour the hotel, then take it back.

I asked the same question about the CR and was told that if you book a breakfast at the hotel, then valet park, you can leave your car all day.

Can't confirm this myself but most of the people who posted on this thread confirmed that this was what I needed to do.

We were waved in with no pass for any certain amount of time. You never know. Just depends on the security at the gate.

:sunny: I think it also depends on when in August you are going. If it is during peak season they will limit your time, but if you are there the last week in August you may be okay! We love the WL, this is our favorite resort. Hope you have a great trip. :sunny:

I believe that they don't enforce the time limit if you pay for valet parking. The time limit was obstensibly put in place for two reasons: To address folks trying to dodge paying for parking at the theme parks, and to address the limited availability of parking spots for hotel guests. Paying for valet parking mostly obviates both concerns. Clearly fee dodgers won't pay for valet parking, and valet parking uses its own allocated space in the parking lot. There is some relationship between the two, but there is a cap on how many cars can be valet parked, so that self-parkers who are hotel guests still have enough availability.

On our trip at the end of May, the only place we were issued a pass was at the Poly. Even then, there was no time noted on our pass; and the guard said it would be fine to go into the parks after our dinner.

When we stopped at the gate houses at the Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge, and GF, the guard didn't check our ressies and attempted to just wave us on through. We asked each time if we could leave our van in the lot for a few hours after our meal to go into the parks, and all of the guards said ok. I would just ask.

Better idea! Since you're driving anyways, you might as well park your car at MK and then take the boat to WL. This will give the WL guests their parking space availablity. And you don't have to worry if you stay at WL all day long or at MK all day long, your car is parked at MK- general parking for all guests.
