OK, if you really want a Wii, here is a good way, but it takes some work.
Find out every store in your area (or in the radius of how far you're willing to travel), and write down their phone number. Then call each store, and ask them if they know when they get in shipments of Wii's, and write that down next to the number (if they know). Then, call every single day (or the days and times listed) of each store, until you have someone tell you that they just a shipment in. Target,
Best Buy, Circuit City, and Walmarts are your best bets, but there are a lot of other stores that can carry them too, get them all.
As for games, if you're not too picky about getting used games, purchase them on Amazon.com There are over 50 good games (and some not so good) for under 20 dollars (many are under 10 dollars). Also if you see a game that sounds interesting, look it up on
YouTube. Virtually every game out there has been put onto Youtube, so you can see if you like it or not. You can also check out revies of games at Gamespot and IGN.
If you want a Wiifit (which is the best accessory the Wii offers), you can also try the above method (or you can just walk into a store and try to get lucky, like I did). If you do get Wiifit (assuming you find a Wii first), you might want to consider getting We Ski. It uses the Wiifit board (although you don't have to use it, but without the board it's not that much fun) and is one of the most fun games I've ever played.
Don't forget to get WiiPlay as well, because it comes with an extra WiiMote.
Also, while you're looking for games, remember that the Wii can play GameCube games (Nintendo's last generation game system) as well. There are over 900 games for the Gamecube, many of which are much cheaper than Wii games, and make great gifts as well.
Good luck in finding one, it's well worth the effort.
