Question about a Wii, Is it hard to find one? Is it just I haven't been at the right place at the right time. Any ideas as to which stores to check first? Thanks in advance for the help. Hope this has not been asked over and oover, I haven't had the interest until now though!

Also try Wal-Mart. I think ours gets their shipment in on Tuesdays which can be an off shopping day for most people. But, definitely call ahead and see when they typically get their shipments.

We got ours from Toys R Us. And we got a Wii Fit from Target.

I always have good luck with Best Buy..especially since you can get the replacement plan and take advantage aka work the system by getting a new replacement console just because it isn't performing like it was the first day you had it. I have done this with every console and it has worked out brilliantly. Plus most Best Buy's well at least the ones around where I live are usally well stocked with popular product such as the next gen gaming consoles. Circuit CIty is usually ok as far as stock goes as well however their customer service is complete garbage compared to Best Buy in my experience and opinion anyway. I usually stay far away from target and Walmart for electronics for the same reason mainly because in most cases gaming systems are price protected by the manufacturer in other words a Nintendo Wii is going to be the same price at Walmart as it is at say Best Buy, the only exception to that rule is when stores offer package deals and you can save money on accessories and games when you purchase a console.

Most retail stores either get shipments on Monday late afternoon/early evening, Tuesday morning, and/or Friday mornings. So your best bet no matter where you choose to purcahse your console would be to check Tuesday morning at open or Friday late morning/early afternoon.

Though we've bought one for just about every family member at Target. Lately they've had the Wii in stock throughout the week, but Wii Fit is hard to find.

My DH is playing Wii Fit right now, sooooo funny! :rotfl2:

You can try wiialerts.com and it will tell you when it is in stock online. Gamestop by me hs them most of the time- its wii fit that no one has in stock around here! Target had a bunch in their display case this week too. I got it for my daughter last Christmas but I bought it in July because I knew if I waited until closer to christmas I would never have gotten one!

I found 5 at Target the Thursday or Friday afternoon before our Disney trip.

By the time I talked my husband into getting one and he got back to the store (maybe 2 hours??) he got the last one.

It's going to MAKE the kids' Christmas!

Congrats!! They will love it! My daughter and I play it together all the time, we love rock band and guitar hero!

I'm on the lookout for a Wii as well. My kids have been begging me for one and I am going to surprise them with it for Christmas. I can't wait to see their faces on Christmas morning!

Instead of driving all over town, try calling a few places. We called and were able to get one at our local Gamestop on the day they received them.

Now some stores won't want to tell you when they expect a shipment, and some won't even know, but with our local Gamestop, they were always willing to try to give us an idea of when they might have them.

I agree sign up for Wii Alerts - that is how I got my Wii Fit.

Gamestop has worked very well for us. We were able to get one for ourselves and one for my cousins (my aunt had been looking everywhere without luck). We purchased the base package with WiiSports for $250.

My son LOVES the lego Star Wars the Complete Saga. He is 6 and plays it all the time. You can play as different characters and the remote vibrates when you can "use" the force. When you character "dies", he just falls apart and then pops back together. I must confess that I enjoy playing it as well.

The wii sports that it comes with is lots of fun too!;)

Now I have to work on getting some games :)

Any other suggestions??

I second the recommendation for Lego Star Wars. Lego Indiana Jones is great, too, and Lego Batman should also be good.

The Rayman Raving Rabbids games are also really good.

Mario Kart is a good racing game.

Also, Animal Crossing:City Folk comes out Nov. 3 (I think). It does involve reading but it should be great!

There's a thread on the Budget Board that has lots of good game reviews for the Wii; you might want to check that out! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1287560

I thought I read that Animal Crossing is coming out a bit later in November. My son's bday is the 14th, and I remember thinking it wouldn't be out yet. I'm thinking it's the 16th, but could be wrong, too.

The Wii wasn't coming into our house till Animal Crossing is released, so it looks like it's about time to buy one. I have $105 in Best Buy money that has to be used by November 1st, so it looks like I'm getting me a Wii pretty reasonably priced. I'll hold it back for Christmas though (unless I can't stand not playing Animal Crossing - ROFLMAO).

We have gotten Star Wars Lego game and Lego Indiana Jones. We love to play them together (my eldest son is 5, he has a bit of trouble with jumping and moving at the same time but other than that he does ok). Also the Carnival Games one is fun for the age groups that you have in your house (looked at your siggy).

They initially said the 16th, but when we were in Gamestop yesterday they said it would now be on the 3rd - I really hope they were right, because we can't wait for that game. My husband, son and I will be fighting over the Wii that day, unless I get it while they're still at school/work!

I walked into Walmart last week and there were 11! I think they are becoming easier to find. DD has been saving her money all summer so she is going to be very happy!
