Question about Waitlist

I'm new to waitlists, looking for some help.

I 'think' I will need a room for 2 nights in February, Sun and Mon. Currently Mon is available but I would have to waitlist for Sunday. My question is-if Sunday becomes available do I 'have' to take it? Can I cancel the reservation if it does come through? I'm not sure of my travel dates yet but want to get on the waitlist now for what I think will happen.

Yes you can cancel a reservation made by a waitlist subject to the same rules as any canceled reservation.
