Question About Using Gift Cards in Restaurants

Just wanted to make sure that I can use Disney gift cards at sit down restaurants as well as counter service places.
For example; if we go to Boma and the bill is $75, can I give a $50 gift card and pay cash for the balance? How about if my bill is $75 but I gave them a $100 gift card? Would they deduct the balance from the card and and I would still have $25 left on my card just as if I used it at a store?
Of course I would give cash for the tip.

Are there certain restaurants where I can NOT use a Disney gift card?

Since we were on the DDP, we actually used our Disney gift card to pay for all our tips at TS restaurants on our last trip. I signed a piece of paper like a credit card slip and the waiter then brought a receipt showing how much was taken off the card and what my balance was.

You can use the gift card to pay tips. You will be able to use it at virtually any restaurant in any WDW park or resort. You will not be able to use the gift card at the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphon (but you can use it in their gift shops).

I was just wondering this myself. We have a Disney Honeymoon Registry gift card and this will be great to be able to use it for our tips at TS restaurants since we are on the dining plan. My goal is to have to carry absolutely no cash with us while we are in the parks!

On our January trip we put charging privileges on our Key to the World Cards and used those for everything. Then at the end of the trip I used all of our gift cards to pay off part of the balance. This was so simple!! No remembering the balance on the gift cards or keeping track of them and no carrying cash~~just used the gift cards towards our final bill:thumbsup2
