Question about using coupons with National

The other day, many people were having trouble using coupons with Nationals website. I was finally able to get a quote using the Priceless code and coupon, and I have a printed and e-mailed confirmation. Today I tried again to see if the rate had changed, and this time it told me the rental period was too long for the coupon and it would not give me a quote. I went and printed the coupon to put it with my confirmation, and upon reading it, National is right, I have exceeded the maximum rental period for using the coupon (even though it took it off my other reservation). Do you think I should just cancel the reservation I have where it takes off the amount of the coupon and just go with the one with the discount from the Contract code instead of both??

Well, I will take a stab at this since no one else has offered a suggestion. Have you considered using an Entertainment Book coupon? They usually get a pretty good rate and discount. I personally think the National website has no rhyme or reason for how they do their quotes. One can get widely different results from one day to the next. Keep trying different things you see from this board and Mousesavers.com, as well. If you are going off season, watch for the rates to drop as the time gets closer. All this said, there are people on these boards that know WAY more than me and will have other suggestions for you. I usually don't cancel a reservation until I know I can replace it with a better one.

I don't have an entertainment book to get a coupon, so I don't think that's an option for me. Nationals website took my coupon, and gave me a confirmation, but I'm afraid it won't be honored when I get there, because my rental period exceeds to max. period on the coupon.

I should also add, that the coupon only saved me $26 or so, so if I cancel that ressie and use the only with the contract ID only, it's not that big of a deal. I'm just trying to figure out if they will actually read the coupon when we get the car or not?

If you have a copy of your confirmation and a the coupon, for $26 difference only, I would probably take it to the desk and give it a try (They would honour a printed confirmation wouldn't they?, after all, why would you bother reserving/confirming if only to get there and then them not honour the quote?)
