Question about upgrading passes?

Hi everyone! I have a question about ticket upgrades that I'm sure has been asked before. But, since I'm new to the boards, I have to ask it again! Sorry...

In any case, DH and I will be buying 5 day PH's for our trip in May. I know for sure that DH will just be using a 5 day, but I could spend an extra day in the parks. That, in addition to the possibility of AP discounts, may lead me to get an AP for myself. For now, though, I would just like to get 5 day PH's for each of us.

So my question...can mine be upgraded to an AP if I change my mind? I don't know that I will, just wondering if the option is there. Also, how do I go about doing this? It seems that the best price I have found is at the Disney Store, so I was going to head over there today since I have a feeling the pass prices will go up soon (and our income tax refund just hit the checking account!)

Yes it can as long as it isn't a PHP. That can be upgraded too but only to a PAP because of the plusses. They will apply the $ amount you paid for the HP toward the cost of an AP and you pay the difference. Be careful to upgrade before using the last day on it though, because they will not upgrade a pass that is considered used up. If you want to upgrade, do it no later than the fourth day on the pass.

A great argument for an AP is the savings you may be able to get for your resort. Last year, I saved $500 + on my stay at All-Star Sports because of the AP discount! It also allows 10% discounts on lots of restaurants during lunch at Epcot and DTD and on merchandise at World of Disney and several other retail stores at DTD. It's well worth the $$$. That's how I talked my DH into getting them!LOL

If you plan to upgrade before you use the pass, you can upgrade a PHP to an annual without worry. If you use the PHP, then you can only upgrade to a Premium annual.
Even if you use it on the 5th day, you can upgrade and receive full value IF it is within 7 days of first use as long as you upgrade it on the fifth day of use.
You can upgrade any pass after the 7 days of first use IF you have any days left on it.

I have upgraded a 6-day park hopper plus to an annual pass -- not a premium annual. We had not used any of the pluses, however. It was within 7 days of first use and we received full credit.
