Question about Upgrading a Parkhopper

Yes, you can. I would suggest going into the park early that morning and upgrading in the afternoon. This way you've already used your ticket that day and the ticket booths are less busy.

Yes. They will give you a special pass that you have to present every single time you use your ticket, but you can absolutely do that! We did that in March and went in the afternoon when we were moving between parks so there was no line!

Just my luck. I decide to finally purchase an Annual Pass, so I can do two long Disneyland vacations in a 12 month period, and they block out my September 4th birthday, and the day before my birthday. If I was traveling alone, I'd probably just change the dates, but I am not. Not quite sure how I can get by this glitch, but upgrading is definitely an option. However, there's no way I can visit as many days as I'd like on this trip, unless I can upgrade a park hopper to an AP, or change dates.

I am planning on arriving on August 29, and departing for home on September the 7th. I never do parks on either arrival or departure day. However, there on 8 days in between, and the 3rd, and 4th are blocked out. The 3rd happens to be the 5th day, and the 4th happens to be the 6th. Most likely I need to take one day off all together, or back up my vacation by a few days.

I still don't understand why Disney limits Disneyland park hoppers to just 5 days.

They're blocked for Labor Day weekend. It can be nice to take a day off and rest in the middle of such a long trip. There are nice beaches nearby.

I'm surprised that Labor Day weekend is blocked, but not Labor Day itself. It's been almost 20 years since I have been to a Disney park on my birthday. I will figure this out.

Memorial Day is like that too. The Weekend is blocked, but the holiday is open. This is probably because weekends are extremely busy anyway, add to it a holiday after the weekend, and you have a crazy combo.

I was looking at a Deluxe Annual Pass, and now I may go for a Signature Pass instead. My upcoming trip is for 8/9 days in the parks, and I want to return next year for another trip, about the same number of days. I don't drive, but I use the photopass photographers a lot, and that benefit just might have tipped the scales in that direction. There are fewer blackout days, and my birthday this year is not one of them. My plan will be to purchase the pass on the first day of my trip. Photopass downloads are all free with this pass, versus $39, a day without it.

Lots of decisions to make.

We use to do that all the time, buy a hopper pass in summer than upgrade the last day to a lower level AP, I assume it still works

If I decide to purchase the Signature Pass, I won't need to do an upgrade. Instead, I will be able to take advantage of the photo downloads on the very first day of my pass.

I appreciate the answers about upgrading. However, I have decided to go in a different direction.
