Question about Upgrading 5 Day Hopper to AP

I am debating doing the LMT CLUB 5 Day park hopper and then upgrading it to AP. It will allow my 10 day trip to california to be filled with more than just 5 days of disney, and if we just go one more time in a year it pays for itself.

Question is, do I have to upgrade it on day 1 before we enter the park or can I upgrade it at anytime before the 5 days have been used?

The reason I ask is we went for a 10 day drip in May and had 5 day passes and didnt go every day because we were tired from being out of shape, but we have been whipping ourselves into shape since may and we think we could handle more than a day or 2 in a row now.

I was hoping to be able to use 2 or so days to get a feel for if we could do more than 5 days and then just upgrading it before we used all 5 days.

Does that make sense?

You can upgrade any time before the end of day 5.

Keep in mind, until you upgrade, you sacrifice any potential discounts on food, etc, so do it as soon as you're sure.

Would be mighty nice to have an excuse to visit later in the year!

yes thats a great point. thank you for that, we typically have my brother who lives in So Cal will go with us for parking and discounts but its still something to consider

Also just to add that I would take advantage of your magic morning before you upgrade. I usually use my MM as soon as I can then upgrade to start getting discounts. Although now with maxpass, you don't want to do many days since you have to pay for maxpass each day, and just a one time $75 to add it to your AP when you upgrade.

I read (I thought on these boards) that someone upgraded to AP before they used their Magic Morning and the cast member gave the people some sort of voucher or paper that they could show and still use their Magic Morning. Does anyone know if this is true or maybe has done this? We will be looking to do the upgrade but we don't want a full day in order to just use the magic morning. (Sorry if I derailed the thread a bit.)

This can happen, but don't count on it. Pixie dust is just that -- pixie dust and not a guarantee. It is safer to use your MM before upgrading, rather than risk losing it and not receiving any pixie dust. If you don't want a full day using your ticket, just use the MM, then afterward head straight to the ticket booths to upgrade. That way you'll get your MM, upgrade to your AP, and start getting your discounts on the same day.
