My MIL uses a weekly pill organizer and I told her that carry-on on the plane she would have to use original containers - she's had cancer treatments so she takes a pharmacy of pills everyday. But if you check the rest of your pills in your checked luggage, couldn't you put pills in whatever organizer works for you?
Yes you could do that.
My husband has to take five different meds twice a day for various illnesses and even though we fly non-stop we never check meds. The risk of his bag getting lost out ways just putting the containers in his carry-on.
