Question about transfering points

Hi everyone,
I noticed that some members transfer their points. If the person who received the points decides not to pay for for them, can you get the points back. Or would you be stuck? I assume it would be best to receive any payment prior to actually transfering the points.

From what I've read on these boards, it appears that most people have had positive experiences while transferring or renting points.

Any comments would be appreciated thanks.

I believe you are stuck because you can only move points one way during each use year (I believe). For example, we own at SSR, but wanted to stay at BWV this summer. Since we wanted a SV, and I knew it probably wouldn't be available at 7 months, I transferred my points to a friend and he made me reservations with his BWV points.

Since I have transferred points out of my 2005 and 2006 use years, I won't be eligible to have points transferred into my account until 2007. I can still transfer out of 2006, but not in.

I think of it as a one way street.

In addition, MS doesn't want to get involved in disputes between members.

Exactly right. The one time I bought points and transferred in, I paid before the transaction. Yesterday when I transferred out to another member, She paid before I transferred. Banked or Borrowed points CAN NOT be transferred. Transferred points CAN be banked or borrowed.

You may want to keep in mind when talking to DVC about transferring the points - I don't think we are technically supposed to accept money from the member we are transferring the points to - I believe we are only supposed to trade, give them up, etc. So don't mention the monetary aspect to MS!
