Question about transfering points and linking reservations.

Hi all. I'm looking to transfer points that are in my current use year. I have some questions:

1. Am I correct that I can only transfer points from the current use year? Is it correct that you cannot transfer banked or borrowed points?

2. Assuming I cannot transfer points outside of our current use year, if friends of ours wanted to make a reservation using a combination of our points (that were not current use year), and their own points...could you link that reservation?

2. I've made 2 separate reservations with DVC friends and we were able to link them. One time I did Thurs, Sat & Sun and my friend did Fri night. They were linked seamlessly, we only checked in once.

For 1. - is this the use year of the person transferring the points or the use year of the person receiving the points? What if they are different use years?

In this context, the points being transferred must still be in the current UY, i.e., they have never been banked or borrowed. For most UYs right now, that means 08 points, not 07 points banked into 08 or 09 points borrowed into 08.

It doesn't matter what UY the member receiving the points has. We received April 08 UY points and we have an Aug UY. The April UY points had to be used for reservations between April 08 and Mar 09 or banked and used from Apr 09 and Mar 10.

To the OP, depending on the reservation date, you may be able to transfer current points from more than 1 UY. Let's say you have an Apr UY, so 08 is your current UY. You could transfer 08 points to your friends and 09 points to your friends. They could bank the 08 points and then use the points from both years for reservations from Apr 09 to Mar 10. Neither you nor your friend could do another transfer for 08 or 09 UY.

You can also bank transferred points. Generally you can transfer points from the current UY and from the following UY.
