Question about transfer/trade home resort???

I hope this is not one of the flamed taboo topics (along w/ pool hopping, refillable mugs....)
My home resort is AKV but I would like to stay at BCV next Easter 2009. I know...wait for the seven month period (good luck) or buy BCV points in a transfer (I own 400 points and do not want to buy anymore). Can you do a swap with another member? Such as, They'd book BCV for me and I'd transfer the number of AKV points to them? Can this be done? If so, how do you list your request on the board?

Any suggestions would be helpful!

sure you could do a private trade for reservations with a BCV member, something I think will be more common in the next few years. Or you could rent your points to raise cash for a reservation. Make 11 mo reservations then try day by day at 7 months out for BCV, with 400 points you should be able to hold both until you have everything set. Good luck.

As with anything where our moderators attempt to define the universe as best they can, there will always be something that might not precisely fit a category created. You are correct that the rent/trade rules for the rent/trade section of this site don't exactly fit your category, where you want to trade by transfering points to another in return for the other's making a reservation, but you may want to try categorizing your request as a Trade Wanted.

The only way you could trade by transferring would be if you transferred points one year and received points another year. Other places to look would be Timeshare Users Group, myresortsnetwork.com, bidshares and redweeks.

I did this very recently. On the boards, found another member and I rented for her in turn for her transferring points to my account. She wanted to stay at WL and I already own also at Beach Club, so she will be transferring points into my Beach Club account. We have the same use year, so that even helps. I will probably bank some of those transferred points. This gives us an opportunity to stay a little more at Beach Club for a couple of years.
