Question about TIVO - Grrrrr

Pardon the cluelessness, but when you use TIVO to record a show like the Oscars or Super Bowl and the show runs past the alloted time on the Guide is there a setting to make sure it keeps recording?

I should have learned after the Super Bowl and went ahead and recorded the show AFTER the Oscars. They were getting ready to announce the Best Actress - the ONLY reason I had watched anyway and NOTHING. All of a sudden that stupid menu screen popped up asking if I wanted to save or delete.

Do you just automatically record the show after the one you're watching in case it runs long or is there a setting?

For live events we always set a manual record for at least one hour past the scheduled time. Live events almost always run longer than the network scheduled time.

You can also 'tag' the show to record for several fixed time periods after the normal end of the broadcast.
