CBRorBust,
After reading a long discussion about this topic afew days ago, I received the application in the mail. You are right about the fact that the ad doesn't provide a lot of information! Here's my take on it. (I'd love it if some of the more knowledgable folks here could let me know if I have it straight.)
Basically, mine said that you get a 7 night Dreammaker Package for the price of 4. (This is basically room plus UPH tickets.) Plus you get $100 Disney Dollars. How much you save depends on when you go and what type of room you book.
For grins, I went to
www.disneyworld.com and put in 10/21/04 to 10/28/04 dreammaker at a deluxe resort for my family of 4. It came back with AKL, savannah view or concierge pool for $5,117.40. When I resubmitted it for 4 nights it came out to be $3,135.40. So, this deal would save me about $2,000. I also did it for POR water view room ($2,611.40 & $1,705.40). A difference of about $900.
Ok, for me, this is where it gets complicated. Do you really want, or need a UPH? That is, UPH's are length of stay. If you are arriving late in the day and leaving early, you only may need tickets for 6 days. Also, in my case, we wouldn't want to go to the water parks. So, we only need Park Hoppers. Another thing to think about is APs. The difference between a standard AP and a 7 night UPH is about $20. AP's bring in other discounts. Confused yet? I sure am!
I'd recommend looking into your own situation. How many people will you be paying for? How many park days do you need? Will you be going to major parks only? Or, will you want to go to DQ, water parks, etc... too? What are you willing to consider acceptable in a hotel? What is your dream hotel?
I my case, paying for the four of us, I think the savings may not be too great. (Since we really only need PHs.) However, in your situation it could be wonderful. I hope I helped you think this through. (And didn't just confuse the issue more! lol) Anyone, out there see something I'm missing?
