We leave Friday to fly to LA and then on Saturday we are on our way to Aulani. We all have gone on the Safe Travels website and got our vaccination cards uploaded for the adults and 1 negative covid test for my 9 year old grandson. At 24 hours prior to our flight to Aulani, do we go in and complete the health questionnaire or do they e-mail it to you. Sorry for the stupid question but I am just a bit confused with all of this.

Thank you. I am starting to second guess myself. Taking a family vacation is tough enough and I want to be sure I have all my ducks in a row.

Don't mean to hijack the post - I have the Safe Travels app and it wants a 6 digit code to add the trip. Where do I find that? Maybe I got the wrong one? I used what was provided on the Hawaii site but I'm not very technologically advanced.

All the new requirements really are confusing! Jodybird is right- Safe Travels will send you a reminder when your 24 hour window opens, you’ll log in and complete the VERY BRIEF HEALTH questionnaire (do you currently have a fever or any covid symptoms?), and they will respond with an email that contains your QR code.

I recommend printing the email/QR code, saving it on your phone, AND having the Safe Travels login info for your group handy. You’ll need to access this ( along with photo ID) at the airport, car rental, checkin at your hotel. You’ll be tired, so make producing the info easy on yourself!

And get to your airport early on departure day for the flight to Hawaii so you can be prescreened and get a wristband there!! Otherwise, you’ll be waiting in a long, hot line after arriving in Hawaii. Not the way you want to start vacation.

We are flying American Airlines do they do the wrist bands?

Thank you all for the information. While this is my 3rd trip to Aulani it is my first time going with all the restrictions so I am just a bit nervous.

Yes! I flew American from DFW, and got the wristband before boarding.

i would expect American to be setup to issue wristbands in LA.

I didn’t realize American provided wristbands..we are flying through DFW from La Guardia..how do you get the bracelet..do they just give it to everyone after they verify your negative test or vaccination?

Must be new.

We flew out of DFW on American to HNL in July and they were not participating in the wrist band program.

American had several agents set up at an unused gate. Each person had to present documentation: vaccination records or test results, the QR code, ID, log in to the actual Safe Travels website. Then you'd get a wristband. The process took a while, so I'd try to take care of it as soon as you arrive at the DFW terminal- you'll probably need to go to your assigned departure gate to find out where they have this pre-clearance operation set up.

My flight out was on July 17. I have no idea when they started doing this. It was a bit disorganized and not well communicated, so it might have been a brand new process.

Thanks so much for the info..we have a 2 1/2 hour layover there..so I will make sure to ask right away where to go for the pre-clearance. I would be thrilled if we could take care of it on the ground at DFW

FYI, the wristband given by Hawaiian & United Airlines were distributed at the last leg of your trip to Hawaii, so I'm assuming that will be what American Airlines is doing as well. If you're last leg is from LAX to HNL, then you should find a wristband distribution table after you go thru TSA. For United, it was at the unused gate next to the gate we were using to board our plane. As WebmasterKathy has stated, we were required to show our QR code from the Safe Travels website (we never tried the app), photo ID & boarding pass & the workers were very appreciative that we all had it ready to go when we were in line. I'd say 40% of people in line left & had to come back because something wasn't filled out properly or there was some problem with their Safe Travels page. This was back in March, so hopefully people have gotten more info online about the process. Each adult traveler will need their own QR code, but I think children can be tied to another adult on the ST page. I also advise you to keep your wristband on until you have left the airport. We were asked at multiple points thru the airport to show our wristbands. We definitely saw the non-wristband people in a very long line right outside the arrival terminal & heard it took over 3 hours to get thru before you were able to pick up your luggage.

I think it really varies. We waited less than 5 minutes on July 6th. When we left on the 13th though the line of arrivals looked much much much longer.

Thanks for the info on the wristbands! We're going in a couple weeks and I hope our flight (United from EWR to HNL direct) offers that, I'll definitely keep an eye out. It's a long enough trip as is!
