Question about temperatures first week of December?

We're getting ready to start packing and I know everyone keeps saying "prepare for hot and cold", but what has anyone else experienced in terms of weather for the first week of Dec?

I was just looking at some Christmas decoration pictures from other Disers and looks like everyone has sweatshirts on (could be the end of Dec, I guess).

Should I even bother bringing shorts or just plan on jeans and pants?

I'm hoping to escape to the warm......:sunny:

Thanks!!!

(Man, I wish I could use smilies with everything I write...I just love them   )

accuweather.com has a 15 day forecast. It has changed a little bit as it gets closer but it gave me an idea of what to pack.

Central Florida is capabale of either extreme at that time of year. The past two years have been very cold, windy and rainy. Highs were only in the low 60's and nights were in the low 40's. The two before that were mostly sunny in the 80's during the day and 60's at night.

You really should be prepared for either. Your worst case is that you don't pack something from home that you end up needing (extra sweatshirt, t-shirts, shorts etc) and you end up buying them down there.

You can check item #8 in my 'spinner' clipart below. :) As said, temps vary widely then, low 80's to upper 30's, I have seen them all. Check as you get closer to see the approximate range, but you do need quite a bit, layering works great, taking off as day warms up, adding back as evening comes. Enjoy.

I haven't been in early Dec yet, but have gone in late Jan 3 times and once in early Feb.

For this trip I'll be there for almost 2 weeks, but will plan on doing laundry a time or two. I'm wearing "warm" clothes (pants, sweatshirt, and if it's real chilly a jacket--I'll be arriving in the evening so shouldn't be too hot). I'll bring a couple additional pairs of pants, one leightweight zip-off pants. I'll bring all short sleeved shirts and a couple more sweaters/sweatshirts. Also one long-sleeved Columbia Sportswear "sun shirt". That can be used as a shirt or lightweight layer under a shweatshirt if it's real cold. I'll bring a 2-3 pairs of capris (I wear them a lot--cooler than pants, but warmer than shorts...) and a couple pairs of shorts.

I'm also bringing some thin, stretchy gloves and an ear band for my son since his ears will be exposed.

I figure with these clothes I will be ready for hot weather, cold weather, and everything in between. If I end up wearing pants every day I will just wash an extra time. If there is a variety of weather I can get by washing clothes once.

T&B

I've gone the first or second week of December the past 6 years. Some years we were in shorts everyday, other years we never wore them. Accuweather is really useless at this point (about 10 days out). I'd be prepared with both and decide at the last minute what you want to do. If temps are below 70 during the day, bring a warm jacket for evening and gloves. I was in Orlando last week for 2 days for business, it was nice and warm (low 80's), hope it stays that way!
