Question about swapping/renting points

Hi,

I'm new here and I had a question about possbily swapping points. We own BCV points. I want to know if there's a forum or board for swapping points or if you have to go through Disney.

What I'm trying to do is get a reservation now within the 11 month window at (Resorts Removed). I currently have a reservation at my home resort. I've been told that it will be next to impossible to get a reservation at (Resort and Travel Time removed) which is when I was looking to go.

The amount of points would be about the same for the days we're going. For (resort removed), it's exactly the same. For (resort removed) it's actually slightly lower than BCV in (travel time removed).

Any help is greatly appreciated. If you have any other ideas that I could use to accomplish this, that would be great. And again, this is literally my first post, so if there's a better place for me to put this, just let me know.

I see you're new to our online community. Welcome!!

Our posting rules prohibit mentioning too many specifics about a potential rental or trade, basically anything that could be interpreted as an offer or solicitation for a rental/trade is not allowed. Such posts are limited to the Rent/Trade Board.

Generic questions may be asked on our DVC Mousecellaneous Board, where I'm moving this thread.

To answer some of your questions..

A trade is possible, basically it would be considered a mutual rental between you and another owner. The points could not be mutually transferred between you, as owners are limited to ONE transfer transaction, either in OR out of the DVC Account...not both. You would need to make a reservation in the other owner's name and vice versa.

DVC will not assist you with this transaction, nor will they become involved if the deal goes sour. Rentals are private transactions between the owner and another person.

You may use our Rent/Trade board, but as a new DIS Poster, you would be required to pay a fee as detailed in the sticky thread **How to Use this Board** on our rent/Trade Board. You must be logged on the DISBoards in order to view the Rent/Trade Board.

Thank you for replying. Again, sorry, I read through the guidelines and tried to put this where I thought it was supposed to go. Sorry about too many details. Now I know!

So basically I would just need to find someone that wants to exchange and have an agreement with them, and we each make the reservations for the other? I can do that on the Rent/Trade board? Is there a better place to do that?

There are other Disney fansites that may let you offer trades. However, as to whether they are "better" than the DIS is subjective. The DIS is the largest Disney fansite. I certainly would not recommend trying on ebay or craigslist for a trade.

Trades are always going to be tricky, and will require trust on the part of both parties involved.

Thanks, Chuck, for your replies. I do agree, DIS is the best fansite. I was directed here by another DVC member that made that claim as well. I looked around a lot yesterday and liked all the information.
