Question about staterooms, family of 6

I am in the very early stages of planning a cruise and have been playing with the website, getting ideas about cost and itineraries. We are a family of 6 (4 children) and I see that we will need 2 rooms. My husband and I would like a verandah stateroom but we will need a second room for the children. Is it possible to get adjoining rooms on the cruise ships? If so, is it possible to have a verandah stateroom adjoined with an inside stateroom? The verandah rooms are so much more expensive, we would love to have a verandah for the adults and an inside for the children. I'm also a little concerned about them having access to a verandah in their room. Thanks!

As far as I know if you get connecting rooms (door between) then they have to be the same category. If you get a verandah and an inside cabin then they'll be opposite each other but not connecting.

The only way to get a veranda and an inside room would be across the hall from each other. There also are no connecting veranda and oceanview rooms. Your alternative may be to get 2 connecting oceanview rooms, no veranda but at least a porthole.

My families experience is that you spend little time in your stateroom so it is not so critical. And on the new ships Dream and Fantasy there are very few insode rooms as compared to oceanview and veranda. In some instances the oceanview are less money than the inside.......

I think it would also depend on the age of your kids. Are they old enough to be across the hall in their own room? We are also a family of six, with 4 teens ages 13-15. In the end we booked two inside deluxe staterooms (the inside rooms with the split bath) and plan to have the 4 kids sleep in one room :scared1: and us in the other. Come to think of it, maybe we should have made them NOT connecting and maybe even NOT CLOSE BY:laughing:!

We had connecting Verandah rooms on the Dream...DS was 9 and DD was 5. They loved having their own room. There was no problem with the verandah, they are well covered and safe. We had to book two cabins because of the ship capacity, even though we were a family of 4, so we had our own cabin and they had theirs. I don't think you will be able to get an inside cabin and an outside cabin that are connecting. But if you go for the connecting verandah cabins, I don't think you should worry. The rooms are huge and comfortable.
