Question about room request at WL

I am going to the world in January and would like to stay at the WL. I understand that some of the upper level rooms on the north side of the resort have views of the Magic Kingdom so that you can view the fireworks at night. I have already spoken with reservations, but they don't seem real knowledgeable about the layouts of the buildings so I am not sure what to ask for when I call them back to make my request. Can anyone shed any light on this subject?

Thanks in advance!

Ask for woods view, north wing, upper floors. Maybe someone else could give you some room #s to ask for as an example, but I'm pretty sure most of these rooms have at least a partial view of MK fireworks. There may be trees blocking the view in some rooms. Good luck getting a great view!

I think your best shot at a fireworks view etc would be room number 5032, or 4032 or somewhere in that area of rooms

Here are a few tips:

Do not wait too long to make your reservations – for two reasons:

1. They only offer a limited number of rooms each night with the discount codes; you’ll want to have one of them.

2. When I called the WL directly to confirm my request 5 days before check-in, the CM informed me that room request preferences are awarded chronologically – oldest requests take priority.

We stayed at WL the last week in July, and I booked very specific room request based on information I had gotten off of threads on this board. We ended up in room 5012, which was perfect for us – 1 queen & 2 bunks, MK view, and close to the stairs. We watched Wishes from our room on the night we wanted to get to bed early. During the day we had a nice view of the wildlife in the Otter Pond. We didn’t see any Otters, but lots of turtles, and one lazy 4ft. alligator. We could also catch glimpses of boats going by on Bay Lake, since we were way down on the end. One of my son’s favorite things to do was to watch the monorails going by on the beam going to and from the CR.
There are probably some even numbered rooms on that aisle with a little better views, because some of them would have a bigger gap between the trees. A sixth floor room would have an even better view of the MK, but not as good a view of the ground. Sixth floor balconies are in dormers built into the roof, so you can’t look straight down.

If you are dependent on the elevators, you’ll want a higher numbered room on that hallway. We were all the way down on the end, one room removed from the stairs. It was great for us, but a long walk from the elevators. It was nice to go right down the stairs and just be a few steps from the boat launch in the morning. It was also handy for accessing the pool.

The courtyard view would be nice if you couldn’t get a castle view. The way I look at it, there are lots of pools, but the nighttime view of the multicolor-lighted Cindy’s Castle, is much rarer indeed.

We made our reservations a couple of days ago for WL but I didn't request any room location. Is it ok to call them back and request these specifics and will they still be able to accomodate my requests?

Yes, you can certainly call back and add your requests. They will be happy to note them for you. Then you should be all set. Just make sure to reiterate the requests to the front desk when you check in because we had requested bunks, and they had automatically put us in a queen/queen room when we checked in. We told them that we had requested bunks and they changed us to a bunk bed room and upgraded our view.

Thanks! I'll do that now...

Let me just reiterate the last poster. Remember to describe your room requests again to the CM when you check in! We arrived very early and did not repeat the requests we had noted on our reservation. When we got back from the parks (about 4:00), we found that none of our requests had been honored. They did gratiously move us, but I wished I had repeated the request earlier in the day so I didn't seem like such a pain. Also, the 6th floor is smoking and they have higher (enclosed) balconies. This was the only option they had left when we arrived and we knew we wouldn't be in the parks too much late at night with a little one so we took it. The balcony was kind of a pain, hard to see trees when your sitting down, but there was only a very slight smoke smell. The view to the fireworks, however, was awesome! Good luck!

We asked for a woods view room facing MK so that we could see the fireworks. We were given #6082. It was a king room (handicap acccesible) and our door opened up to the lobby below us. Aside from the honeymoon room, this was the best room we've had at WL.
Great view of MK fireworks (can see Space mountain well too).

No problem. I called them today and put in my request. I also will keep notes to remind myself at check-in to repeat my requests. Hopefully, they'll go through...

We have been to WDW every January for the past two years, but have never stayed at WL. We have reservations in January but reserved a courtyard view, assuming it was the best. What room category should we request to at least try for the castle view, or should we just make the notation in our reservation? Thanks to all the WL experts, we are only there for a few days and would really like the best view, I LOVE fireworks.
