Question about room choice at Grand Californian

OK, I know this is an opinion question but I have never stayed at the GC so need a little input. My husband and I are planning on taking our DS-8, DS-8, and DS-6 over Christmas. This will be my DH's first trip to Disneyland and, to put it mildly, he can be a bit "much" about hotels, if you know what I mean.

Right now I have a one bedroom suite reserved but I keep looking at the layout and it seems to be on the cramped side. For those who have stayed in the GC suites and rooms, would I be better off reserving two connecting rooms? This is a man who claims to be claustrophobic in our house (lol). Really he is not as high maintenance as the post may sound, I just want to make sure the trip is perfect for him. Or as perfect as I can make it.

There are a few advantages of having 2 connecting rooms vs. the suite. First, you would have 2 bathrooms. Personally, I think this is a huge plus. Five people sharing one bathroom doesn't sound great to me, and you would probably be able to get ready fast in the morning if you had 2 bathrooms.

Another advantage of connecting rooms would be that you and DH can get a King bed in your room, and then bunk beds in the kids' room. There is a trundle that pulls out from the bottom, so all 3 boys could use the bunk. Or, if they aren't into that, there would also be a Queen bed in the room with the bunk.

Finally, a big advantage of the 2 rooms would be that you can put the kids to sleep in their room, and you could stay up in your room without disturbing them. The suite has a door to the living room, but I'm guessing you'd need to have one or more of the kids staying in the master (see below).

If you have the suite, then I think you'd be getting 2 Queen beds in the master, and the pull-out couch. You and DH would have to share the Queen (instead of having a King if you did connecting rooms)...and then the 3 kids would have to use the other Queen plus the sofa. This doesn't seem like a great option to me.

So, based on all of the above, I'd definitely vote for connecting rooms.

You could go "all in" and book a 2 bedroom suite, which is usually a 1 bedroom suite with a connected regular hotel room.

A 1 bedroom villa would have worked well for you, but those must be booked 7 months or more in advanced (and involves renting DVC points).

We had a 1 br suite at gch that had 2 bathrooms. It was great. I'd agree that having a suite with only 1 bathroom would be a lot less pleasant.

Do you recall the location, or even better the room number?
The floorplans I have found only show 1 bath (a few have an additional half bath).
