I was just reading a trip report (delswife) and she was talking about her girls fighting over who got to use the charge key/pass card to enter. This made me wonder: do they all look the same?

We are going to let our oldest ditch us and go where he likes for this trip (first time) and I wonder if I am going to have trouble keeping track of which card key to give him. What if I give him the wrong one, like his sisters child one? Or do they have names on each one? That would make sense, since they ask for names... That brings to mind another question.

Do we neeed to carry ID? The adults, I mean. I like to go into the parks with as close to nothing as possible and my DH always carries my ID in his wallet on vacations because I have a bad habit of losing it. Do I need to remember to get it from him if I head out to the parks without him? Oh bother, I bet I do.

You will want to have ID on you for various reasons. If you want to have a beer or a glass of wine anywhere on property, it's likely that you'll get carded, even if you look plenty old enough to be drinking. :p Some of the locations have an "ID everybody" policy and there are no exceptions.

Also, you've got kids, which means there is a chance that they'll get lost or that they won't show up at a meeting spot when told to. If you go to Security or Guest Relations to report a lost child, the very first thing they'll do is ask for your ID, since they obviously don't want to give a kid to the wrong adult. And if you have a missing child, the last thing you want is to have to run back to the hotel for ID.

Also ... if you lose your passes or a credit card, you'll be asked for ID before they're turned over to you at Lost & Found.

And finally, if by chance something were to happen to you when you were at the parks -- you got sick, fell, were injured, etc. -- you want people to be able to know who you are. Chances are that you'd be with someone you knew, but on the chance that you're not, park officials, paramedics, and other folks will need to know who you are, plus they'll want to try and contact family members.

So yes ... please take some ID with you. If you're afraid of losing it, then make a copy of your ID and keep that in the safe at your hotel so that it can be easily replaced. Although, every time someone tells me that they have a problem losing their IDs, I always remember what my dad used to say ... "You never lose your paycheck, right? So, just make believe it's your paycheck and hold onto the darn thing!"

All of the passes look basically the same and do not have individual names on them. However, they are labeled either "child" or "adult." Child passes will open the resort room and get a chiled into the park, but you cannot charge meals or other purchases on them. Also, an adult should not be able to enter the park with a child pass.

You can get everyone a key card and you can put charging privleges on one or all of them. Names aren't on them, but if it's set up to charge it will say so. So, if you want your son to be able to charge food & stuff to the room you have to set it up at check in...the front desk person will ask you. You can't set limits on the cards either.;)
