Question about Renting Points

just a few questions
i am lookin to rent points (not transfer) what is the best way to do this
How would i pay and what is the guarentee or is there a guarentee
Any and all information would be helpful

Just got back from great trip this mornin and i am looking for either November or October at Any DVC but preferably BCV

At the top of the page, you will see three "stickies," which is DISspeak for permanent postings. They are there for a reason. Before you do anything else, read all three of those stickies.

I'd start with the third one first -- the Rent/Trade FAQ. That's the basic how-to primer and it's a good one. Then read the other two, which are posting regulations.

Then, and only then, browse through some of the threads and look at the interactions. That will give you an idea of how the system functions.

The primary things to remember are that understanding what you're doing is key to success, and the entire process requires mutual trust.

Finally, if you have questions after reading that stuff, the proper place to post questions would be on the DVC Operations board (you'll also see some threads there with questions and comments about renting). The Rent/Trade Board is used only for soliciting rental transactions themselves...not Q&A.

For Oct or Nov, you'd have to purchase a resevation from a member that they cannot use since those months are pretty much sold out already and lots of members are already on the wait list.

In addition to the advice already offered, please be aware that points are of no use to anyone except the member who controls them in his/her DVC account.

There is no mechanism for Non-members to "rent points"- they can only rent a reservation made using points from a DVC member. In some cases that would mean finding a member willing/able to make a reservation for your exact dates, resort and room type and, in the case of hard to get dates (like October, November and early December among others), you may have to try to find a member renting an existing reservation that would work for your needs.

Post your requested dates, resort and room type on the Rent/Trade Board (using "Reservation Wanted" as the title) or respond to an offer to rent made by a member.
