OK, I know this would better be placed on the rent/trade boards, but they have changed the way you can post on there and I am just not sure about something and thought someone over here may know.

OK...if you rent points/request a DVC member make your reservation, can you add the DDP on, or do you have to have them do and can they do it...not to mention park tickets?

TIA!

DVC Member Services (MS) can only be contacted by the DVC Member. So anything you want to add on to a rented points reservation--ME, DDP, room preferences, etc--must be done through the member. They had been kind of loose with this policy, but found that MS was handling lots of calls from non-members who had rented points.

It seems that since they were not as familiar with DVC (and possibly due to some anxiety with the renting process) some renters would make lots of calls--to check on the reservation, ask questions, try to change things, dining reservations and changes, etc.

But part the yearly maintenance fees we pay funds the operation of MS, and therefore is for members only. With renting points becoming more popular, wait times going up to get through to MS, and members unhappy, they tightened the adherance to the policy.

Any questions about your rental terms, how DVC works, etc can be researched on the boards or you can call the member renting you their points.

HTH! and enjoy your stay at whatever DVC resort you stay in! Hopefully you'll like it so much that you'll want to join DVC too ;)

the dining plan can be added, but has to be done by the member thru member services, at least 72 hours before your arrival, but you pay for it at checkin you cannot prepay for the dining plan with dvc points, works the same as other ressies-must be for your whole stay and everyone in your party. you can purchase tickets at checkin and have them put on your room card, or you can prepurchase them and ask at checkin for them to be transferred on to your room card, i have heard of this being done before. you can also have DME added for airport transfers, but again the member has to do that for you as well. good luck, I have rented points before and had no trouble at all, and am doing it again this december.

Well I have been looking into it for a while now but my DH keeps telling me that we will get burnt out. I just laugh everytime he says it, but keep putting it off. if you look at my sig you will see we are making WDW a yearly habit. We have been home less than 2 weeks, and within the first week he was the one telling me to see if I can plan a trip for this Oct.
I would like to stay at VWL, since I think this would appeal to everyone in my family, plus WCC is a fav for our family to eat at. I am actucally planning this now as a surprise anniversary present for my DH. I told him we didn't have enough vacation time left to make the trip again, and money would be tight, etc. so now I am trying to do all this behind his back and it is killing me. Even if I can't get rent DVC ponits/reservation, I think I will still try and take him to WL. I seen that is your home resort on your sig...I am assuming you like it pretty well!

That answered what I needed to know...thank you! I was pretty sure I could have DDP added but wasn't sure how it worked and or if I had to get park tickets to make it a package deal like I would have had to do with staying at the resort.

Thank you both for your help!

using points - VWL, BCV and preferred view BWV - are all the same price.

OKW, SSR, and BWV standard view are little cheaper.

good luck!

Yes we do! We knew it was "home" the first time we set foot in the lobby.
You have excellent taste! ::yes::

What a great surprise! I'm sure you'll be able to work it out somehow.

It took us 4 years to get to the point of buying DVC. DH originally bought me off by saying I could go every year and stay wherever I wanted, but the deluxe resort rates are a lot more than I was willing to pay! Once my parents moved to FLA and we started going every Christmas, suddenly he decides it's a great idea :sad2:  men.

We've gone several times in one year and at least once a year. Not burnt out yet! There is sooo much to do, and new things to try each time we go.

Best of luck converting him!
