Question about possibly renting out part of an existing reservation

I have a dilemna. I have a week booked that is now inside the 30 day mark.

I still want to go, but cannot go for the first 2 nights, or possibly 3. I can't just add on at the end at my resort - nothing available, plus those days are not currently available to me for vacation.

It is coming up really fast - I have a very few days left to make some sort of decision.

This problem did not exist until very recently, so I could not have prevented it.

Has anyone ever rented out the first couple of days of their reservation and kept the rest? (I could schedule a full cleaning on the renter's checkout day.) I fear splitting it will make it 'disappear'. As in all the talk of the new system.....the dining plan etc.

I also fear dropping the days and having points go to holding as we aren't going again until next use year and I already have points to bank.


I am considering a lot of options right now and would like all comments, both positive and negative - give me your best shots so I can get a realistic point of view going here as I'm kind of overwhelmed by the situation that has caused this change and may not be making the best overall decision for me.

I would only consider it with very close friends or relatives.

Instead of that I would cancel the days that I could not use, have the points in holding and then rent those out before they expire. A much safer transaction.

Thanks for your reply. I agree with you! Since my week starts next Thursday, I think it was probably crazy to even think that I could get a renter in such a short time and complete all the necessary details. I still have 9 months left - October use year - so maybe I can snag a usable reservation somewhere if I cancel the whole week.
