Question about Pop

We have always stayed near the MK and gotten there by boat. If on a bus from Pop where does it drop you off? How is the bus service from Pop?

We are considering changing our reservation for later this month thanks to some great rates! Any advice on that? We are 3 adults, one 5 y/o and a baby in a crib.

Thanks!

The bus from Pop drops you off at the bus drop-off area just outside Magic Kingdom. If you've taken boats from Contemporary, WL or FW, you've gone right by here.

Going back to Pop, if the lines are long (e.g. park closing) buses may double up. One night, a Pop bus was filling as I approached in an ECV. The driver told me there'd be another bus right along and there was. While Guests were boarding this bus, another Pop bus parked just beyond it and more Guests boarded. The lines may be long, but Disney does its best to move Guests quickly to and from the resorts.

::MickeyMo We stayed at the Pop in May and didn't like it at all. We thought the bus service was terrible. We left Epcot one night before closing in order to beat the rush. The line was absolutely ridiculous. We waited 45 minutes...with the buses being doubled up! The lines from MK were also long. Now, mind you, it was not busy. We waited longer for the buses than we did for the attractions. The ride from the Pop to MK is pretty long as well. We even waited a while for buses to the theme parks. It's because of the bus service that we will never stay at the Pop again. There were other things, but that was our main peeve. ::MinnieMo

When you're dropped at the MK do you have to take the ferry or just walk over?

Also, we are considering changing because it's $1000 cheaper if we do Pop as opposed to CR. We may have to hate the buses/lines and like more food/souveniers.

You just walk over. If you were to get off the ferry at MK, the bus stations are just to the right. Just a hop skip and jump away. It's very convenient. No ferry or monorail. Just delivers you straight to the door. ::MinnieMo

When the buses drop you off at the MK you just walk up to the entrance. It's not much farther than where the ferry drops you off actually.

On another note... I've never stayed at POP but have encountered crowded bus situations at other resorts as well. We've waited for over four bus loads to leave the parks for POR before. That doesn't mean we don't love our experience but it does detract from it when you have tired kids after Cirque and can't get a bus back to the resort out of DTD. We were very close to just calling a cab. But it's all in the time of year that you go. We were just there during peak season and expected busy busses (and we weren't disappointed! :rotfl: )

It's not only the values and mods either. The CR shares buses (or did in 2003 and sometimes made for a more crowded commute at closing time) I think all in all my family would much rather be in a crowded bus line at Disney than at home anytime :earsboy:

::MickeyMo We stayed at POR during off peak times and never had one bad bus experience. We always got a seat as well. I don't think I got a seat for the whole vacation when we stayed at POP. I think the DTD buses are difficult at every resort. We took the bus from the Swan and Dolphin to DTD and it took about an hour to get there! I'd be pretty peeved if I spent $300. a night at least and had to sit on a bus for an hour because it stopped at 4 other resorts. It was crazy. ::MinnieMo

We just got back last Sunday from POP. The lines were pretty long for the buses, but the worst part was the noise. Kids and adults can be heard loudly from 6 ish in the morning, to Midnight or after, toilets flushing, phones ringing in neighboring rooms, very crowded dining area, etc. Next time I might try a different value resort over pop and see what happens.

I've read lots of complaints about the noise in the Pop rooms. I guess it depends what you're used to.
I live in an apartment, so I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary. The ONLY time I heard anybody else's bathroom (i.e. toilet flush) was when I was in the bathroom. And while I KNOW there were families with small children in the rooms on each side of me, based on the way Mousekeeping had set up window displays, I never heard any voices. If I heard doors slam, well, it didn't register on me.

We're a lot like the OP. While I like the deluxes we never semm to spend much time there. The last deluxe we stayed at was YC and while it was ver nice it also cost $260 a night now comapre that to the rate at Pop of $59 a night and you can see why we stay at Pop now. It must be the frugel Yankee in me. On to your question the buses are usually pretty good at Pop, the one thing you will see is that most of the time the Pop bus stop is the furthest away because it is the newest resort. Walking is good for you and after a trip to WDW walking 6 - 10 miles a day the little walk to the bus stop is easy. Maine :firefight

Could you share where I can get POP for $59 a night? If so, thanks so much! I'm fairly new to all of this.

If ever we were to stay at Pop again, I would use our own car as opposed to the buses. We found the bus transportation to be extremely poor. While we waited at MK one night for over an hour (they did put on extra buses, but we still had to wait that long) people at the All Star resorts were not even waiting. When a bus arrived for the All Stars everyone in line was able to get on. As someone else mentioned, the only time we got a seat on the Pop bus (to or from the parks) was if we let people pass us at the front and waited for the next bus. As for the noise, the resort was full to capacity when we were there and we never heard a thing from any other room near us. You could hear people walking by but I'm sure that's the same at any resort. So I guess it depends on who your neighbours are!

I've always said that I'm a deluxe kinda girl princess: However, I just booked a trip to POP friday. We just went in March 05 and stayed 7 nights in the CR tower and 5 nights at SOG. We've always had AP's but they expired in May and so with the package special I ran a deal with 7 nights at POP w/dining and 6 day pass for $1975. That entire special is less than my 7 nights room only at CR last March w/AP discount. Granted it was peak season and I was willing to pay that as it was a very special occasion (DH returning from deployment with National Guard).

For a quick trip down the week after Thanksgiving with a 10 night DCL cruise booked in early Sept 2006 I was looking for something that would allow us an extra taste of the magic and only spending what I have saved up now. Good thing to as the pay off date for the package is in 10 days! :rotfl:

I can't imagine that POP is any more close quartered than the cruise ship and we were never bothered by noise there. I've seen a post on the DIS where someone said they heard noise from the exact cabin we stayed in and had asked to be moved. We were never bothered by any noise. We aren't used to noise but after living for 12 years in military housing and having an autistic son we are maybe more tolerant ???

Having only stayed mod or deluxe I am a bit concerned about how we will like it ... but it's a surprise trip for the kids and they won't know about it until we pull out of the driveway. I wanted to stay somewhere whimsical and fun and thought that it sounded like it fit the bill. We are ok with crowds... DD even thought peak season was fine at the parks. She said "It's all good just as long as you are there." And with the price of the entire package including dining POP just was perfect for a surprise last minute trip to the magic. :cloud9:

I will be sure and do a resort report from someone that has always stayed mod or deluxe and my first reactions to a value. Hey like some we may never go back to paying those deluxe rates ??? Or we may never stay value again but we've got to give it a try.
