Has anyone (adult) actually used the daybed to sleep on? Does the daybed fold out in some way, or do you just sleep on it like a sofa at home? How comfortable/uncomfortable is it?

Thanks!! :sunny:

I just came back from one of the new remodelled rooms and my DD(8) used the day bed. The back folds down into a single bed - it was very easy to switch around and didn't take up any extra space when it was down as a bed.
She had no problem with it. I laid on it and while it wasn't as comfortable as one of the beds in the room, it was adequate. Nothing sticking in you....

The Polynesian is in the middle of refurbishing all of the rooms, so depending on if you get a "new" room or an "old" room, will determine what the daybed looks like.

Here's a picture of the "old" daybeds:

My DS14 1/2 slept on it, and he had plenty of room. He's about 5'10" tall.

The "new" daybeds I believe are designed differently. From what I've read, they sound like the "daybeds" on the Disney cruise ships. Those daybeds have the back fold down to expose the bed part.

Maybe someone who's seen the new daybed will post to give more detail. But generally, they are the size of a regular twin bed.

Hope this helps! :)

Here is the daybed from the Disney cruise. Is this basically how it worked?? :)

(Look at the bed in the bottom "bunk", it's the daybed during the day when it's all folded)

Here's what it looked like folded up during the day:

The new beds at the Poly look like they operate exactly like the one in your pic from the cruise. Of course, the look of the bed is completely different, but it "works" the same.

Thanks for replying! I had a feeling they were similar in type :) My older DS (16 at the time of that cruise) slept on that bottom "bunk" on the cruise and he said it was comfortable enough. :)

The new daybeds are also the same as the ones at the AKL in the deluxe rooms and the new ones at the Contemporary.

Similar experience...my DD (7) used it all week and she absolutley loved having her "own bed". Housekeeping made the daybed everyday, but just left it out, never folding it back up, which was perfect with us.

Have a great stay...

Just got back from the Poly last week. We were in a renovated room, but I'm pretty sure the daybeds are the same size in all of them. Three adults took turns on the daybed while we were there. It's the size of a twin bed. It certainly wasn't as comfortable as the queen beds in the room, but it was just fine. I slept well on it, and I wouldn't hesitate to plan on a daybed for an adult again.

Our room had the "old style" daybed. Did not fold flat.

Yet, it was comfortable enough that I slept on it with no problem all week.

yes, my kids even slept on it NOTfolded down and they liked it...

I never tried it because I was in love w the beds (they are like mine at home)

but there is bedding already on it and big fluffy pillows all around the room...

we were in a new room btw!

have fun Poly is great

Since I happen to have one of the (old style) daybeds in my own bedroom at home (courtesy of Mouse Surplus) I can tell you that the matresses are thin and they have no springs, but it is very pretty.

I find that they are perfect for a child, but some larger adults will find it uncomfortable. The bamboo also creaks a little bit if there is some weight moving around.
