Question about point expiration

If points expire at the end of January, for example, do the rooms simply have to be booked before that time frame or can they only be used before that time frame?

IE, a members points expire in January. I would like to stay Jan 31'st through February 9th. Is that possible, or could the points only be used for the 31'st of January?

The points would have to be used for a stay that ends before they expire.
With a use of Oct. for example, they would have to be for a trip that ends no later than the last day in Sept.

So, basically it is the second option as you phrased it in your question, they can only be used before that timeframe.

The last night that February Use Year points would be vaild is January 31 - with a checkout date of February 1.
