Southwest air had a ding for Orlando today from Detroit. Where I live it is 3 hrs to Detroit or 3 hours to Midway airports. The ding went from Detroit to midway to Orlando switching in Midway. Can anyone tell me can I buy the ding from Detroit and get on in Chicago Midway?

I can't say for certain but I don't think so. I would think that if you don't show up for the flight out of Detroit they'll sell your seat to someone else.

It's a different plane from Chicago midway to Orlando so I don't care if they sell the first leg from Detroit to Midway to someone else. But I did pay for the whole trip but only use part of it.

As far as I know, if you no-show for the first leg of the trip, the second leg will get cancelled.

Tyler is correct.

SW is unique in that they don't care if you get OFF early. So if you were buy Chicago to FLL with a stop in MCO and got off there that would be fine (although your luggage makes the entire trip)

BUT.... When you don't get on the first flight on a ticket then they assume you missed the plane and cancel the reservation so when you get to Midway there is NO reservation!
