Question about pin codes

I'm reading that some people are getting pins for 30% room only. This is really the type of discount we want. I called and had a big 10% off so I'm holding out for something better. Anyway, when you get the room only discount, is it good on ANY room and at ANY resort? I know there seemed to be lots of rooms and resorts excluded from the FD promotion that came out yesterday.

I guess I just don't want to hold out for a 30% or greater pin only to be told that it's only good on the highest priced rooms or only a few resorts. So, I'm just trying to get an idea how those work.

TIA :)

I don't know about the current pin offer out because we haven't received one. However, if you know for certain you're going to go on a trip, I would take advantage of your 10% off. It's not much, but it beats nothing. If you happen to receive the pin your wanting or a general public code comes out that is better than the 10% discount, you can call Disney and take off the existing discount and apply the different/better code. Having done that myself, I know it's not a problem at all. If you book now with the 10% and no other deal comes out or you don't receive the pin, at least you can say you saved the 10%. Every little bit helps. If you need the 30% off discount to make your trip, then I would wait.

I agree with the pp that if you are going regardless, I would book with the 10% discount so you at least have something should you not get another PIN or no GP offer comes out. I also wanted to add that PIN codes work the same as other offers. Disney gives discounts to fill rooms, so not every resort/room type is always offered. If a resort is at or near capacity, Disney sees no need to offer an incentive on that particular resort. With that said, if you book now with your 10% discount and a better deal comes out, you can call and see if your resort/room type is available under that offer. If it is, your reservation can easily be changed to reflect the bigger discount. However, having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied as it all depends on availability under that promo. HTH :).

Thanks so much for the responses. I really appreciate the help:)

I called today to see if I had a PIN. They said I did and that it was for 10-40% off. It was a room only PIN. He gave me quotes on the 3 resorts I was interested in. I later went online to price it myself room only and it was the same amount? Has anyone had this happen?

Maybe they didn't apply the pin?? I'd call back to clarify what your discount is. How do you know if it's 10% or 40% or somewhere in between?

o.k.....called them back and the new person told me my PIN code did not have availability(which is why he quoted me rack rate), but that she found a new one for a room and tickets that had availability....only worked out to be $100 off..but its something!
