I was wondering if instead of upgrading to the park hopper tickets for our 7 day stay, if we can just purchase the 10 day base ticket and use the 3 extra days to go to a different park on one of our 7 days there?
I hope I am making sense. In other words, Can we go to two different parks on the same day, and just have it take an extra day off our base ticket, or will it not let us enter another park on the same day period? Has anyone done this? Thanks for your help!!

This question gets asked a lot and the answer is no, you cannot do that. The ticket will not work that way.

This question has been asked many times in the past. Unforunately Disney's computers will not let you do this. If you try you will be rejected at the second park in the same day.
Park hopping is not always the way to go. I started planning our spring trip about three months ago and at first was planning to get 7 day park hoppers for DD and DGS, DW and I have AP's. After I started to plan out our days I realized that I was going to park hop only 2 out of our 7 park days so I changed our plans slightly to eliminate park hopping altogether. We will be at WDW ten days total with lots of down time planned and since we do have 2 APs in our group of four we can get water park tickets at a small discount, if we even do a water park. In the past we have been very satisfied with just using the resort pool.
Hope this helps you in some small way.

One additional comment. The most often mentioned reason to pay for the park hopper option is "What if the park I have choosen to visit on any particular day turns out to be very crowded? If I had park hoppers I could just go to another park."

Again this is completely a personal decision. As for me I have decided that taking slightly longer trips but not planning a park visit on every day of the stay works out just as well as park hopping and makes for a much more restful vacation.

Nope, think of your ticket as admission to the parks on say 7 separate days rather than just 7 admissions. With a one park per day ticket, once you use the ticket at the turnstyles your ticket will be "tagged" to you and that park, only you can use it for re-admission and only to that park.

If you want to hop, you have to buy the hopper option. If your unsure you want park hopping just buy the one park per day tickets and then add the option to hop if needed/wanted later in the trip.
