Question About Modifying Stay by adding 1 night

If I call MS to modify an existing reservation by adding 1 night, will the extra night be under a different reservation number and then linked together, or will the extra night simply be added to the existing reservation number?

This matters to me b/c we stay at AKV & the front desk people do a terrible job of making sure that you don't have to change rooms when your reservation is segmented even if the reservations are linked (happened to us 2 times before). At AKV, I usually have to remind them when I check in, then remind them the night before the segmented ressie ends, then remind them again to get new keys. It has never gone smoothly for us.

Thanks.

If the same room type is available, they will extend the original reservation.

Depends on who you get at MS. I have seen it done both ways so treat them the same as you do the AKV Front Desk and check before they do it and walk them through it if you have to.

Thanks, I just want to make sure it's possible to keep it under 1 number so that I can hang up and try for a person that knows how (like usual, with the MS crapshoot).

Its really not a crapshoot at all. If you are adding a day to an existing reservation and you are using points from the same DVC Member account, then the entire stay will be covered by the same Travel Plan number. When the MS CM modifies the reservation, he/she should confirm the Travel Plan number, which should be the same as the original booking. If its not the same number, then ask for clarification and, if necessary, speak to a supervisor.

We just added a day to a reservation we originally made via the Online Reservation System. We called MS to add the day and gave the MS CM our Travel Plan number and dates. The CM added the extra day, reconfirmed the same Travel Plan number, and sent us an email show the revised travel dates. It was really very simple.

We have found that it depends on who you get at MS. We added a day last December through MS and we were told that we had to link the reservation. Later I read a couple of posts where the Advisor modified the reservation and added a day. I called MS to verify for future information and was told that a link was required, I requested a TeamLine Advisor who verified that no link was required and that the MS Advisor who I spoke to would be updated by the training team.
